I am a UT Houston hopeful applying for the traditional and accelerated nursing program. I will complete my science prereqs (A&P 1/2) in the summer. I will finish up with Micro and Chem in the fall. I am so focused right now. Anyone else out there? :)
I am interested in applying for the BSN program UT health scince center for Fall 2011. My gpa is 3.63 whish is okay and my science gpa is 4.0. I need chem and statistics to finish. I very nervous about the HESI exam. Any suggestions of what to study? I am specially nervous about the A7P and vocab. :-/
Is it extremely competitive that you must have a gpa of 3.9 to get in or do I have hope?
Any tips or suggestions would be great =]
Also, I haven't talked to anybody at the school. I suppose that's the best route to go. :) Just thought I would see if there was actually anybody on here with overall GPA's of less than 3.0.
In my opinion, when applying to nursing school, the most important grades are your 60 prereq hours and your 16 science hours. I have a previous bachelors with a not too hot GPA, but my first two years were just fine. When I added the 24 hours I had to take to complete the 60 prereqs they wanted, my GPA turned out just fine. So I wouldn't worry too much about the overall..just make sure your prereqs are above at least 3.2-3.3.....to be safe. And try to make A's in the sciences.

Does anybody have an overall GPA of less than 3.0? Mine is 2.9 but have good GPA's in my nursing prereqs and science GPA, just went through a time when I wasn't focused on school and my first degree is in chemistry. Might they overlook my overall GPA if everything else is okay? Getting very nervous about whether or not I'll even get an interview now because of it!
