Hello all!
I am a pre-nursing student at Tarrant County College hoping to get into the Spring 2018 ADN program. I have found allnurses to be extremely helpful in regards to information about student stats and program requirements.
My current stats are:
API: B
APII: A
Microbiology: In Progress
HESI A2: Scheduled next month
I'm currently studying Evolve's HESI preparation book. I wanted to create this discussion for questions, answers, and encouragement for Tarrant County College Spring 2018 hopefuls. I know it's a little early but hey, I'm excited. :)
I took micro with a&p 2 and I thought it was fine. Hey didn't go hand in hand per say but having the working knowledge of anatomy made micro easier. I did end with As in both but your mileage may vary. I would suggest if you can, take them all separately and really focus on the information. But it's not impossible to do.
I have a question in regards to the Hesi.....if anyone can help out. I passed my Hesi with an overall of 90.50%. The lowest score I received was a 63% on the reading conclusions but I scored an 82% for the reading. Do they look at the overall reading score or go by each individual subcategory for the reading? I hope it is overall....I really do not want to retake the test.
Is there anyone up here that is currently an LPN and looking to get into the Advanced LPN-RN?
I think we have one person on here that is currently in the Fast Track program. This thread was created for the Spring 2018 Regular Track program. There is a lot of info on the TCC website for the fast Track program. Here are the basics:
FAST TRACK OPTION
For certified paramedics, military medics or licensed vocational nurses.
When to Apply
You must apply during the February / March application period for summer admission.
The application procedure and requirements for the Fast-Track Program are the same as those for the regular Nursing Program.
Eligibility Requirements
You must be:
Accepted into the TCC Nursing Program.
Have current certification or licensure as an LVN or paramedic
Due to the fast pace of this option, we strongly recommend that you complete all general education course requirements before admission to the program.
Credit-by-Exam
The purpose of this option is to shorten the completion time of the program from 24 to 15 months.
You can earn credit for the following courses through the credit-by-exam process:
RNSG–1105 Nursing Skills
RNSG–1360 Clinical-Foundations for Nursing Practice
RNSG–1413 Foundations for Nursing Practice
You are encouraged to take the online preparatory course before scheduling an exam.
If you successfully pass the exam for all 3 courses, you will have earned a total credit of 9 semester hours. You will be eligible to start the Summer II session by taking:
RNSG–2213 Mental Health Nursing
RNSG–2263 Clinical-Mental Health Nursing
Contact our Nursing Program to learn about enrollment.

I would 100% NOT recommend taking micro and either anatomy together. I did this myself and it honestly drove me crazy. I guess it was good preparation for nursing school... but the pressure to get A's in both is overwhelming.
