Spring 2017 TCC Nursing Students

Published

Starting thread for TCC nursing students submitting application in a few weeks for the Spring 2017 semester ADN program. Personally, I have followed and watched and reviewed entrances over the year and it changes upon fall and spring semesters and the amount of applicants. I will be applying with two A's in A&P and Micro and a B in A&P2, so my GPA is a 3.6.... My first HESI score is a 87.5. I have seen acceptance with this, and have contemplated retaking HESI just to see if I do any different.

Comment and ask any questions and I hope to see you all in Spring!

Omggggggg getting answers from anyone is like pulling teeth right now. There is walk in advising available but no apointments. And after 11 emails with an administrator assistant who could not answer questions fully, I came to conclusion that I just need to walk in.

Oh no! I believe it though. I bet it doesn't help with the fact Katherine isn't there anymore....it's probably complete chaos!

Ok so completed HESI again today! Heres results:

They only do the 4 required sections...which i loved! I had to do all 7 at another school last time I took it.

I got a 90.

The critical thinking...it is nursing based thinking questions and scenarios. What to do with your pt when certain things are presented or who to assess first in order of importance based off status. If youre in medical field already this is pretty simple, if not know youre going to go off vitals first, and then for who to assess first most critical situation having to do with breathing and age. Also, they want to ensure you know never give personal advice as nurse for diagnostics. You always refer to provider. I scored a 950 on critical thinking section and score ranges 0-1000.

So total i have a 3.6 GPA, HESI score 90, and critical thinking 950.

Wow!!! Congrats on your awesome grade! Thank you for the advice on the critical thinking portion! I take this on Friday! How did you do on the other sections? What did you mostly see for math? Were there a lot of conversions? Also, how was vocab???? :)

Thanks, in advance!!!!

Great job! And, yes, thank you for the heads up on the critical thinking portion! I had only heard to remember the ABC's of nursing...airway, breathing, and circulation.

I take mine on Monday and the math section has me stressed. Math and I do not get along but I've been studying my butt off for this exam, so we'll see!

I retake my HESI this Friday as well, so anxious to get this over with!

ALSO, does anyone know if we have to have to send in our proof of immunizations on the specific form provided online in the packet or if we can send in photocopies of immunization records with physicians signatures in place of? It would make me nervous to not get that specific paper signed, but is anyone else doing this?

I'm pretty sure we can send in photocopies. I am having my physician sign off on my immunizations using the packet form. Honestly though, I would just call up to the school and ask, just to be sure!

I took my HESI today. I received a 92% on math, a 92% on reading, a 92% on grammar, an 80% on vocab, and a 950 on critical thinking. My overall grade is anot 89%. I felt pretty confident on all of the other sections, but I definitely regret not studying the vocabulary more. There were a lot of ratios and proportion questions on the math section and a handful of fractions and conversions. The reading was pretty tedious, so I recommend starting with that first. The critical thinking portion is really all common sense, but it can seem tricky.

Hey Meagan, what surgical tech program did you complete if it was locally? I'm considering applying to TCCs program if i do not get accepted to the nursing program. I have many interests, so my feelings won't be COMPLETELY bummed if I don't get in, haha.

I took my HESI today. I made an 88% on the Math section, 98% on Vocab, 96% on Grammar and a 92% on Reading Comprehension. I received a 93.5% overall and a score of 820 on the Critical Thinking portion. So relieved to get that out of the way!

Congratulations!! That's awesome!! It basically ensures that you will get into the program!!! :)
