Spring 2017 TCC Nursing Students

Published

Starting thread for TCC nursing students submitting application in a few weeks for the Spring 2017 semester ADN program. Personally, I have followed and watched and reviewed entrances over the year and it changes upon fall and spring semesters and the amount of applicants. I will be applying with two A's in A&P and Micro and a B in A&P2, so my GPA is a 3.6.... My first HESI score is a 87.5. I have seen acceptance with this, and have contemplated retaking HESI just to see if I do any different.

Comment and ask any questions and I hope to see you all in Spring!

I just can't believe they don't require the A&P section....what's the critical thinking section like?

That's because our A&P classes override it. Our score for admission is 50% HESI on those other areas and then 50% off our science GPA...so they don't need to consider science part of HESI cause they already have it from class.

The first time I took the HESI back in Dec that wasn't on it. The critical thinking is nurse based/clinical questions to test knowledge, they us that as a tie breaker if you have same score as someone else, as I have understood.

Alrighty! I'm not too worried about the other sections, mostly just the math. I'm not too terrible at math, but I get super anxious with major tests! I'm really hoping to get at least a 90 on all of the sections! If I get an A in A&P 2, I'll feel more certain about getting accepted into the program! I'm super excited though! I can't believe there are not more people on this forum! Maybe it will be a smaller application pool for the Spring semester! :woot:

Hi ladies!

I was hoping someone would start a thread for Spring 2017 soon. I've been guilty of stalking posts from previous application periods to determine what scores have earned a spot and trying to find where I may fall within it.

I'll be applying with a 3.33 science gpa, 1 A in Micro, 2 B's from A&P I and II (Dr. Vu was no joke. Bless his heart, he knows his stuff and you sure as hell better too ;)). I take my HESI on August 8th so I'm praying for a great score to boost my chances and ease my mind a bit.

I've heard Spring admissions tend to have less applicants...

Best of luck to y'all!

Have any of you applied anywhere else around the area?

No I haven't wanted to apply anywhere else. If for whatever ungodly reason TCC doesn't take me, then I'm going to UTA and doing their 15 month online program as I work in OR alreadly.

No, I haven't either.

Haha I'm taking professor Vu now for a&p 2!

Nope. I'm hoping for TCC! I'm kind of placing all my eggs in on basket lol.

Lol, I absolutely loved Vu! He's not an easy A at all. You definitely have to work for the grade you want, but he gives you critical thinking/real world lessons on his exams that prepare you for a career in the medical field.

Has anyone submitted package yet?

Also found out that they don't average your HESI score. What they do is input each section and score out of 100. The lady said best chance is each required section be score of 85% and above as competitive. What they do from there I do not know...it's a 50/50 split in scoring between weighed GPA and hesi consideration.
