Spring 2010 Nursing Program Acceptance-Lawson State

U.S.A. Alabama

Published

Hi,

Just wondering if anyone has heard anything regarding the Spring 2010 RN or LPN program at Lawson State?

Hey brighterfuture and pixiegalsmom!

I applied to the LPN-to-RN mobility program.I remember when I had to get for all of those immunizations. Luckily I already worked at a hospital and had gotten most of them, all I had to do was go to Employee Health and get copies saying that I had been vaccinated. I have taken all of my pre-reqs, the only non-nursing class that I haven't taken is Micro.

I still didn't get anything in the mail to day. I remember several years ago when I applied to Lawson's RN program, I got a letter stating that I didn't get in, I don't know what's going on with them now. I want Santa to bring me a letter from Lawson, LOL! :)

I'm still praying and crossing my fingers!

Best of Luck to you as well. Waiting is the hardest part!:coollook:

Still no letter today. :(

Do they send out acceptance letters only? Did you apply to any other programs?

I'm not sure if they only send out acceptance letters. A few years ago I got a letter from them telling me that I didn't get in the program. Maybe they've changed the rules. Lawson was the only school that I applied to, for the simple fact that I work full time and needed an afternoon program.

From the looks of it, I didn't make this round. :(

You said in an earlier thread that you were applying for the bridge program? Are you aware that Snead State has an online lpn to rn program? I believe that clinicals are arranged by you, so if you're employed, all you would have to do would be to arrange for your employer to agree to be a preceptor and sign off on your clinicals. You might want to check out their website for more information.

How long have you been an lpn? Did you go to Lawson's for your lpn? What made you decide to "go the next step"?:nuke:

I am currently enrolled at Snead State, just finished Anatomy II. It was my intention to apply for their mobility program, but I missed the Oct. 1st deadline; not sure how I missed it, just slipped my mind. I hate that I have to wait until next fall to apply, they only admit once a year.

This is how it all started. I started out as a Pre-Med major at UAB in 02. That didn't work out so I changed to Pre-Nursing, transferred to Lawson in 04 doing prereqs for RN. Applied to RN school 3 times, never could get in. So I decided to try for an LPN program instead of waiting. I went to Herzing College for my LPN. Been a LPN for 2 yrs now.

Wow, you've really been immersed in this for awhile! Are you aware that Jeff State has just started a mobility program? I'm not sure how many times they admit per year and whether it's strictly a day program or not, but it might be worth looking into. If this is what you really have a passion for, then don't give up!

I was interested in their partnership program with St. Vincent's. I guess I'm going to start my research again and see what I can find that will work for me. I really need an online program (Snead).

Thanks for encouraging words!

Hi,

I think we are going to receive letters even if we don't get in. I had a classmate that received a letter this fall telling that she didn't get in the program, but she was accepted at Wallace. Even if we don't get in by points we still may get a phone call because everyone may not accept their seat. When I called on Friday the secretary was still working on some of them so maybe they don't send them out all at once.

Well that's not very good. When they extend invitations they should send them all at once. Granted not everyone will accept, but word gets around and those that wait patiently and still don't receive word --- it's just cruel. Also, you need time to get things in order regarding vaccination records, CPR training, etc. and if they don't give you ample notice, that's just unprofessional.:o

That's true...I was reading threads that were posted earlier this year and Lawson wasn't on time notifying people of things then either. It just doesn't make sense. That's why a lot of people switched schools..I should've applied other places too. i just may do that in the approaching year. I can't sit around waiting on one school. I talked to one other person and she was told that she was 1.5pts away from getting in the LPN program. I am just lost for words right now.:stone
