  1. My advise to you is to take one day at a time. There is going to be a lot of information for you to absorb. Try not to get overwhelmed. If there is something that you do not understand ask questions, a stupid question is the one that's not asked. What area are you going to be working in?
  2. When you are doing your best at your job and get noticed for it, that makes it all the better. Congrats!!
  3. @ brighterfuture I feel ya on the Lawson thing. I felt the same way 3 years ago. I did almost all of my preqs there and have never gotten accepted to their program. On to other things and places for me as well.
  4. Well, I got my letter today and I didn't get in. I guess I will be taking Micro in the Spring and try again at a later time for the a Mobility program. @ brighter future, I didn't get there until 2002. Good luck on your letter.
  5. I talked to one of my friends who recently graduated from Lawson's RN program and she said that some people didn't get letters until a week before the semester started. I was like, OMG! I am trying to wait and do it patiently, but my mind keeps telling me to give the receptionist a call. Brighterfuture, when did you start at UAB? I was there for a little while.
  6. I was interested in their partnership program with St. Vincent's. I guess I'm going to start my research again and see what I can find that will work for me. I really need an online program (Snead). Thanks for encouraging words!
  7. I am currently enrolled at Snead State, just finished Anatomy II. It was my intention to apply for their mobility program, but I missed the Oct. 1st deadline; not sure how I missed it, just slipped my mind. I hate that I have to wait until next fall to apply, they only admit once a year. This is how it all started. I started out as a Pre-Med major at UAB in 02. That didn't work out so I changed to Pre-Nursing, transferred to Lawson in 04 doing prereqs for RN. Applied to RN school 3 times, never could get in. So I decided to try for an LPN program instead of waiting. I went to Herzing College for my LPN. Been a LPN for 2 yrs now.
  8. I'm not sure if they only send out acceptance letters. A few years ago I got a letter from them telling me that I didn't get in the program. Maybe they've changed the rules. Lawson was the only school that I applied to, for the simple fact that I work full time and needed an afternoon program. From the looks of it, I didn't make this round.
  9. Hey brighterfuture and pixiegalsmom! I applied to the LPN-to-RN mobility program.I remember when I had to get for all of those immunizations. Luckily I already worked at a hospital and had gotten most of them, all I had to do was go to Employee Health and get copies saying that I had been vaccinated. I have taken all of my pre-reqs, the only non-nursing class that I haven't taken is Micro. I still didn't get anything in the mail to day. I remember several years ago when I applied to Lawson's RN program, I got a letter stating that I didn't get in, I don't know what's going on with them now. I want Santa to bring me a letter from Lawson, LOL! :) I'm still praying and crossing my fingers!
  10. Well, I just checked the mail and still no letter.
  11. I am still waiting as well. I took me weeks to get someone to answer the phone. I finally spoke with someone on Monday and I was told that the letters would be mailed on Wednesday. I live in Calera and I am still waiting. Congratulations pixiegalsmom! what program did you all apply for, RN(mobility) or LPN?
  12. YAY!!! I am very nervous as well. Thanks for the info!
  13. I am about to lose it! I am impatiently waiting for this letter. I have tried to call the Bessemer campus just to see if someone can give me a time frame of when the letters will be mailed. At this point any info will help! Has anyone heard anything??
