Spring 2018 MDC Nursing Program

Published

My journey started from cna, lpn now,I applied for spring 2018 nursing bridge program. I am looking forward to what it has to offer and the challenges ahead. Anything is possible if you work hard and be persistence in reaching every goal you set for yourself. Always keep a positive mind.

Totally doable, my brother did it and is now finishing up his ARNP online while working as well!

Who did you have? I cannot stand the lab or the teacher, I'm pretty confused most of the time. I prefer anatomy and chem much better

I don't remember... it was a lady at MDC Kendall. She was actually really great and helped students as much as possible.

wow that's awesome. good for him! you're lucky to have him around to help you :)

If you get accepted to both which one would you pick? I'm hoping people pick the generic so it'll increase my chances in the accelerated lol

I would rather generic full time but I'll take whatever I can get lol

Yeah, I plan on working while I pursue the BSN as well. Ask HR about the BSN requirement. Until recently I worked at Mt. Sinai and my cousin is a preceptor at UM and they have already implemented the BSN requirement.

Just out of curiosity, why do you prefer the accelerated?

I want the accelerated because I want to move out of state and I want to finish quicker to work. I know faster isn't always better but for me it is. My boyfriend of 3 years moved out of state so I want to be finished so I can move as well.

I'm going to get the BSN while I work. I asked a few nurses and they say as long as you know someone they will take you without the bsn. You just have to sign a contract saying you will get it or show them that you are enrolled in a bsn program.

I understand. I'd probably do the same thing.

I wish miami dade and other colleges had a straight to BSN program. I guess they get more money offering the ADN and RN-BSN program. I called the school today because I wanted to try and get a date out of the adviser. She said the hurricane did push them back but just check regularly. She said there is a grace period for those who got the letters to accept or not accept. After the grace period then they start the second waves and keep going till all of it is full. She did say the competition for accelerated is significantly less but she didn't know how many applied.

I know Barry and nova have a BSN entry level program. But Barry and Nova's tuition is significantly higher than MDC.

I thought about other schools but MDC is the cheapest. I want to graduate with as little debt as possible. Usually new grad nurses are not allowed to work overtime and are not paid as much so I am looking at MDC. Even now I'm living check to check since I am paying everything out of pocket and only work part time at the bank. My microbiology lab manual alone was over $100  Once I get the acceptance letter I will take out a loan.

Did anyone here apply to other schools?
