Spring 2019 Lone Star Hopefuls

Published

I've decided to make this page for anyone applying for the Spring 2019 ADN program at Lone Star CF/K. I'm so nervous and it's still kinda far away! Good luck!

I got accepted as an alternative as well. I already have my associate of Science with Lonestar. I really do not want to get an ADN because I will still have to turn around and get a BSN. I have heard hospitals are not going to be looking for ADN nurses. So, I may just start chamberlain in the Spring. Has anyone heard some reviews of that program?

That is true, they are phasing out LVN's and ADN RN's my mom said. She's an RN with an ADN. They are wanting you to have your bachelors degree ultimately. I just want to get SOMETHING and get my career started.

Then again, I want to get into psych nursing not really hospital type of person. I love how the mind works and have always found psych interesting.

35yrs old here! Graduated from SHSU in 2005, married, stayed home to raise our 3 boys. Started this nursing journey 1.5yrs ago. I was denied into LSC this round with a 91.2 on my HESI. Discouraging, but will not give up! I will be opening my options and will study for the TEAS now, but will apply again for LSC. Keep it up everyone!

I was wondering where else everyone applied. Also, is KW not open to fall admissions?

I made it as an Alternate with a 7.456 as well. Looks like a bunch of us were really close.

Don't give up and Good Luck to all of the Alternates.

Besides tuition being $80k... No. Lol I personally wouldn't go there. I think the price is ridiculous.

Hey everyone ! I am super late to the party here. (How did I not think to check here for any updates?!) anyways, congrats to all that were accepted! To those who were not , keep your head up and DO NOT GIVE UP.

I was accepted to Kingwood for Spring 2019. Score was a 7.6.

I was rejected by 4 universities over the past year before this so I know how frustrating and upsetting it can be. But keep trying!!

Looking forward to meeting the KW group soon! (Is anyone making a FB page ??)

Hospitals are trying to seek magnet status, so eventually everyone will need a BSN as that will become the new norm. I have a friend that's in Chamberlain right now. It's rigorous of course, but she likes it. The major downfall is the tuition, but since it's a for-profit school they'll pretty much take anyone in.

If you're willing to spend more time waiting I would probably suggest studying for the TEAS (I'm going to start studying for it soon). I will also be applying for UTH, TWU, HCC, San Jacinto & etc. I couldn't apply for those schools this upcoming semester because my microbiology class (there was only one Microbiology class at the community college I went to) transferred in as a microbiology for non-majors even though the curriculum is pretty much 90% identical for the one needed for science majors. :(

Hospitals will still hire ADN but a majority will have you sign a contract saying you'll obtain your BSN by a certain date. ADN or BSN you are still a RN!

I know a nurse at Memorial Hermann, they're more than willing to hire ADNs but they do require you be enrolled into a BSN program within a year and graduated within 3 years. Most BSNs are online now.

I went to an orientation at Chamberlain. If you get your entire bachelors there I think its about 90k. If you have your associates of science already I believe its around 50k.

That is the reason I chose not to go that route. My friend went there and she liked it, but she HATES paying on her student loan. She told me if I could try to avoid getting a loan that it would be much better in the long run.

I love all the positivity! I'm in the same age group as yall & I know how you feel "old" when considering some of the applicants are barely out of high school. lol.

I'm one of the ones waiting on a BSN decision, I am hoping for an acceptance to one of those programs so that I may vacate my spot at Lonestar for one you very worthy alternates to get the opportunity to also start your nursing journey.

This round was super competitive & with fewer available seats than fall term, everybody here put up great scores & I only wish there seats for everybody! :/

Hang in there though yall, I'm sure alternates will get their acceptance letters as soon as BSN results start rolling out!

Actually, if you look up the average age of a nursing graduate, it's 30. Lol I'm 26 so it sounds about right!

If anyone makes a fb for KW... add me. Clay-Chloe Autrey on FB...
