Spring 2019 Lone Star Hopefuls

Published

I've decided to make this page for anyone applying for the Spring 2019 ADN program at Lone Star CF/K. I'm so nervous and it's still kinda far away! Good luck!

Yeah that sounds about right. She told me 28000 thousand a year. I would need two years. I just want to get started already. This is my first semester not in college and I already feel behind. I am only 21 but I also want to become a NP. Also, did your friend like the Chamberlain experience.

I know a nurse at Memorial Hermann, they're more than willing to hire ADNs but they do require you be enrolled into a BSN program within a year and graduated within 3 years. Most BSNs are online now.

I don't want to get into the hospital. I didn't like it when I was in the LVN program in my home town. I'd rather home health care or psych. But I guess it's where you want to be after you graduate. I just want my RN and I'm done. Lol

Actually if you look up what the average age of a nursing graduate is, it's 30. Lol I'm 26 so it sounds about right!

But if I can get my BSN, that'll be a plus. I'm 26 too. I just want to start my career. It's been a long road.

She did like it! She has a great job now at Memorial Hermann. If you don't mind spending the money...I would say go for it. I really liked the professors there when I met them.

My friends just recommended this website to me. This is my first post. I wish I knew about it awhile ago because I was so anxious waiting by myself. I got accepted to CF with a 7.696 score. I want everyone to know that they should keep moving forward! Don't quit! I'm 26 years old and I took the hesi over 3 times. My GPA score was low. I retook a lot of my classes and struggled thinking maybe nursing wasn't for me. I struggled because I was comparing myself a lot to other people. Looking back now, I'm really proud. I applied to BSN programs years ago but I was rejected. I know in my heart that I just had to work harder and be patient. This is my time! I'm glad to know that there's other people that are close to my age!

Have you tried sending in your transcripts to see what classes you'll need to take? Some of my friend's classes didn't transfer in and we both believe it's solely the purpose of enabling the school to make more money off of you. Don't forget there's a hefty interest that comes with those loans. If you're REALLY determined to go that route, just be sure that you'll be financially stable. To me, all that money spent on loans could be used towards a house. My co-worker who attended West Coast University (for-profit) and the students needed to achieve a certain percentage of a grade or else they would fail the class. She was about a year into the school and she failed. She still has to pay for all the money she borrowed and now she's trying to get her LVN at another school instead of BSN. I don't know if Chamberlain is the same with having mandatory grades like that, but I will ask her.

I'm sorry if it sounds like I'm trying to scare you! :( You are still young, and I don't want you to stress out more than you need to.

But if I can get my BSN, that'll be a plus. I'm 26 too. I just want to start my career. It's been a long road.

I will be 30 in December. I'm happy to know that not everyone in the program will be super young...

Do we have to take the drug test by October 18th for alternates? Or just pay? It just says "A mandatory drug test will be administered by SurScan Drug Screeninf Solutions at some point in the future for all applicants" confusing

Do you guys know how many students applied?

Yes, I have sent my transcripts and it would be only nursing classes. I thought every nursing school you couldn't fail any classes? She told me mine should transfer she saw my unofficial. If they for whatever reason would not take a lot of my classes I wouldn't go there. I am in the same state. They should take all my classes. Thank you for the insight though. I just do not want to waste my good time.

Has anyone recieved a decision from cyfair? I was chosen as an alternate by kingwood but I haven't heard from cyfair yet.

Cant seem to find the FB group.
