I've decided to make this page for anyone applying for the Spring 2019 ADN program at Lone Star CF/K. I'm so nervous and it's still kinda far away! Good luck!
My 2 cents....I would take the hesi and then re-evaluate where you stand. If you don't have an A in A&P, you'll have to get >94% hesi score in order to be competitive. It's possible, but you'll have to study a lot. That will take some time. While your doing that you could start the Hep B series.
If you can not afford to pay for the A&P class how will you pay for the program? It's around $5000 for the classes plus a bunch of other books, fees, and supplies. [/Quote]
so then what're my odds of being accepted with my grades and an average HESI score?
About the payment....currently I cannot pay the 600 for the class. For the program, I plan on taking out a loan and I refuse to take out a $600 loan for ONE class unless it's absolutely necessary.
Thanks for your input though I'm honestly just weighing out my options

Tbh just try your hardest for the hesi! I'm tutoring people for the hesi! It's worth to try your hardest on the hesi! Cause 600 for a class is a lot!
Hey guys hopefully yall can help or have some advice and sorry in advance for the long post. I have been seeing that the cutoff score is usually around 7.2 or above the past few application periods and I have a B in A&P and A in English so I figured I would retake A&P to get an A and then study super hard for the HESI and then apply for Fall 2019. I went today to pay for my A&P and was told I had to pay an extra 240 bc it's my third attempt(apparently W count as an attempt). So the total was $610, I receive no type of financial aid and paying that is simply not an option. So now idk if I should apply for Spring 2019 since the deadline is in about 4 weeks. The only things I need are the HESI and the HEP B vacc (the HESI I believe theres an opening Aug 30, and hep b I can get the fast track) My thought process with that is that if I get put as an alternative then my odds increase to being accepted into Fall 2019 but idk if that's how it works. The other option would be to Study study study for the HESI and get a high enough score to get me above a 7.2 and then just apply to fall 2019. Idk if this sounds stupid but I'm desperate for any advice at this point!
Ok so here's my advise...
Go ahead and take the HESI. Study extra hard! Even if you don't end up with an overall score of 7.2 I would still apply for the spring program anyways. What's the harm? All that can happen is they don't accept you and you end up retaking A&P like you were going to do anyways. Same with the HESI...you can always retake it. Yeah, most of the time people with 7.2 or lower don't immediately get accepted. However, I know someone with a 6.9 that got accept as an alternate into cy fair, which is really the hardest one to get into since they only accept 40 or 50 students...(I forgot). Anyways...JUST TRY!
Hi all! I have an A for A&P 1 & 2, a B in English, and with my HESI score I ended up with a 7.219. I was accepted into the North Harris program for this Fall, but am unable to attend due to family matters. I was wondering if you guys think it would be beneficial to retake my HESI in order to get a better score overall.
My HESI scores were:
Reading:90
Grammar:86
Vocab:92
Math:100
A&P:88
Critical Thinking: 840
I'm afraid of taking it again so close to the application deadline and ended up with an even lower score!

I would just go ahead and apply for Spring. I wouldn't go through all that pressure of taking the hesi again for your score to only go up a point or two. You could've retaken your English over the summer, which is what I did, but it's too late for that now. You score right now isn't that bad. Plus, a lot of students who are accepted actually drop the program or get kicked out before school even starts...so you have a good chance even if you are accepted as an alternate!
I finally got my transcripts transferred in everything sorted out to get my application submitted.I am applying with a score of 7.744 with CyFair being my first choice!
Wishing all of us good luck as we get closer to application deadlines & begin the wait of hearing about acceptances!
Good score! Good luck! Uhhh I feel like September is taking forevvvvvver...
