I've decided to make this page for anyone applying for the Spring 2019 ADN program at Lone Star CF/K. I'm so nervous and it's still kinda far away! Good luck!
Wow I'm feeling so doubtful, you guys have amazing scores!! My little 7.47 doesn't look so good lol KW 1st choice
You'll be okay! Kingwood accepts 80 students and the lowest last spring after the alternates were called was a 7.2 I believe. (I kept up with the posts) Also, for fall 2018, someone with a 6.99 got accepted into Cy Fair as an alternate...and Cy Fair is super hard to get into! So don't think negative!
Can someone please explain this to me:
Documentation of the initial completed series of three (3) immunizations.
Documentation of having received the first booster shot of three (3) in the second series of immunizations.
So after i get me third Hep b, am i done? What does a booster shot mean? do I need to get another one after the third shot?
What I was told by cyfair is that if you don't show immunity that you just upload the negative quantitative Titer, proof that you've had the full series at some point in your life and then proof that you've started the series again and that's it. As far as when you need to complete them, idk but I plan on doing the accelerated version.
Hey guys hopefully yall can help or have some advice and sorry in advance for the long post. I have been seeing that the cutoff score is usually around 7.2 or above the past few application periods and I have a B in A&P and A in English so I figured I would retake A&P to get an A and then study super hard for the HESI and then apply for Fall 2019. I went today to pay for my A&P and was told I had to pay an extra 240 bc it's my third attempt(apparently W count as an attempt). So the total was $610, I receive no type of financial aid and paying that is simply not an option. So now idk if I should apply for Spring 2019 since the deadline is in about 4 weeks. The only things I need are the HESI and the HEP B vacc (the HESI I believe theres an opening Aug 30, and hep b I can get the fast track) My thought process with that is that if I get put as an alternative then my odds increase to being accepted into Fall 2019 but idk if that's how it works. The other option would be to Study study study for the HESI and get a high enough score to get me above a 7.2 and then just apply to fall 2019. Idk if this sounds stupid but I'm desperate for any advice at this point!

My 2 cents....
I would take the hesi and then re-evaluate where you stand. If you don't have an A in A&P, you'll have to get >94% hesi score in order to be competitive. It's possible, but you'll have to study a lot. That will take some time. While your doing that you could start the Hep B series.
If you can not afford to pay for the A&P class how will you pay for the program? It's around $5000 for the classes plus a bunch of other books, fees, and supplies.

Just FYI I wouldn't take pharm online. If you can take it with Megan M. at Tomball campus then do it...she's amazing and teaches the necessities. I made an A and actually retained a lot of that stuff. A girl that was in my class said her friend was taking it online and she regretted it. She actually requested to sit in on our class because she wasn't learning anything and was failing the online class since they wanted u to read EVERYTHING.
Pharm is something you actually need to know throughout the entire nursing program. Idk I just thought I'd put my two cents and give u something to think about. It's a difficult class, I couldn't imagine taking it online.
