U.S.A. Tennessee

Anyone applying for Spring 2010? I just turned in my application for the program at Southwest Tennessee Community college- now I just have to sit back and wait... The anticipation is killing me!!

Specializes in none.

I was going to do the drug test listed on the sheet that is on Poplar avenue. I thought they said it was 35.00 and they send the results to the school. I am doing my physical tomorrow as well. I did my background check too. All of these extra fees right here at Christmas is really killing me and my mate as well. I forgot all about the CPR course. We have it here at work but do not have a class starting before the 10th of Jan. Can you tell me where you are taking yours?

Specializes in MSICU/NICU.

Well $35 isn''t too bad- I was thinking it'd be a lot more. Thats actually cheaper than any of the other things. I'm taking the "CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer and Health Care Provider or Lifeguard" class at the red cross- http://www.midsouthredcross.org

I got lucky, There is a CPR/AED/BLS class here at work today and they squeezed me in. One step closer!

Does anyone know what is supposed to be in our nurse kit? The order sheet they gave me had all kinds of stuff on there, and I was just wondering if we need it all right now.

I just finished my first semester at southwest and everything that we needed was included in the nursing kit we ordered at orientation. They are called our "blue bags." They have our stethoscopes, bp cuffs, and lots of other stuff. I didn't have to buy anything cause everything was in the kit.

Thanks.......I thought we would have to have it ordered before orientation.

FYI

I saw the drug test center on the criminal background sheet; however the letter states that our drug screen must be done at the American Esoteric Laboratory (AEL) located at 5846 Distribution Drive, Memphis, Tennessee 38148 ONLY (901) 405-8200. The cost is $40.00 You may want to call the school and verify just to make sure. I just wanted to let you know so you don't have to take it twice, since that is what the letter states.

Thanks Bluff City, I found that little piece of info as I was driving to the one on Poplar, (Whew!) I went to the correct one on Distribution Drive. I was in and out in less than 20 minutes. Very nice people there. It was no biggie and I think it was 40.00. Jenn

You welcome Jenn.;)

Well is everybody ready for orientation? I am so excited and nervous. I can't wait.

See y'all soon.

I just called Southwest and they have rescheduled orientation until Monday 1/11/10 next week because of the impending snow storm. That only gives us three days before classes start.

What? are you serious? Snowstorm? They are only predicting 1-3 inches of snow! I was barely able to contain myself as it were! Now I have to wait til Monday? :crying2:
