2020 Spring Enrollment for Nursing (Hillsborough Community College)

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hello,

I know some of us were discouraged to find out that we didnt get in for Fall. The cut off was the highest theyve ever seen and some were shocked to find out their true pre-req GPA. We have another chance to accomplish our dream of becoming an RN and I am hopeful we will all get in for Spring. Historically it is an easier semester to get into, last GPA cutoff for 2019 Spring was a 3.381 so there is hope. If you dont mind posting GPA and TEAS and when youve submitted the app. Round 2, lets go!

Pre-req GPA- 3.514

TEAS-67

Havnt submitted just yet, but i will be soon!

Hi,

I just came across this thread after not being accepted into fall semester. I am discouraged now due to my low GPA and how competitive the program is. My pre-req GPA is only a 3.248 and I wanted to get your opinion on if I should reapply for spring or consider going to a private school.

*I went to HCC from 2012-2016 transferred and graduated from USF in 2017 with a BSPH.

We’re kind of in the same boat, I’m considering . Go to on of their information sessions and see if it works out. ?

you guys should apply you never know!

Reapplying for Spring 2020. Missed the mark last semester and once before last fall. Hoping spring will be kind to me. Misread my prerequisite GPA before. Currently a 3.381. TEAS 74.

How soon can we apply for spring?

Where else is everyone applying?

Feeling discouraged.

@HannahSaige33

I believe we can begin turning in applications now. Of course the application deadline is not until August 15th so we still have some time. Regarding the feeling discouraged I would say don't give up. You never know this upcoming application period may turn out to be favorable for you.

Guys, I got like all Cs in my sciences. The only A was Socio. Am I screwed? Should I stilll apply?

@Glodwra813

I would suggest you utilize the GPA calculator to calculate your GPA; however, if your prerequisite GPA isn’t at least a 2.8 they will not consider your application.

It won't be a 2.8 since I got Cs in my sciences. I haven't failed or repeated any pre-reqs, and im on my final one, College Algebra which is shaping up to be a B. I'm still going to apply, as well as other colleges. Anyone have suggestions for a C student?

@niquamayers I definitely need to call them and ask because i ddnt even receive the funds, last time I went to hcc to talk about that the lady told me I would only receive it once I got in the program

@StephanieDemenjon the funds for 2019 fall will be release around second of 3rd week.

You have to renew your FAFSA every year. Earliest to renew it is March and the deadline is mid August. The release Date for Spring is every 2nd week of February. For fall is every 3rd week or sometimes 2nd week of September. The release date for summer is every 2nd week of June. I hope that helps! I have FAFSA since 2017 fall so I'm familiar.

Anyway, I didnt get in this fall. It was sad because it was my birthday when I received the email but life goes on! I refuse to enroll at expensive schools. ? I have AA degree but I really want to retake my A&P I and ll. Do you guys think it's possible that HCC will accept my second retake if I take it at USF?

@Ruthydj

Unfortunately, HCC only takes the first attempt. The only way you would be able to retake your anatomy courses is if you earned a D or F.

For anyone wanting to retake a C course, you can apply as a transient student at SPC (or other colleges) and take a higher level Micro, if you pass it it will replace a C in Micro. I don't know if there are different variants of the AP 1 and 2 courses, but if there are, and you take it at another college as a transient student, it replaces the C. It will transfer to HCC. Other programs at different colleges also really take your TEAS into great consideration, so if you've made Cs like me, do well on the TEAS and someone will take you ? It is ridiculous that HCC doesn't take the TEAS score into consideration while picking applicants.

I know HCC don't accept retake. They don't have retakes for students who passed with a C but if I retake the class from other schools like USF, will HCC take it?

I really don't know what SPC mean. Do you mean St. Petersburg college? Anyway thank you for the information. It's really helpful! My only problem is the A&Ps. I have As with the rest except A&Ps. I just gave birth when I was taking my A&Ps. I wish I took them last. I want to retake them at USF as a nondegree-seeking student.
