Now that January is here, I thought I'd start a thread where we can support and encourage each other through our Spring semester, similar to our Fall thread, but with a bit more chit chat. What's your schedule look like? Any other goals you're working on?
I go back on the 17th, though I have a Phi Theta Kappa meeting on the 13th.
My schedule is:
A&P II
Microbio
Federal Government
World Religions
The last two are online.
Right now I'm trying to lose this holiday weight, so I've started running again (it burns). I graduate at the end of this year! In December I'll have my EMT-B certification and my Associates of Science in Biology. I'll also be applying to nursing school (application deadline is August 1), so it's going to be a really exciting (busy) year for me! I'm hoping to use my EMT-B cert to become an ED tech during the summers.
I look forward to chatting with you guys this semester!
I'm not in CA but I'm having the same problem! I just transferred to a big university and I have to take micro in the fall, but they're all already full I'm just praying someone drops it and I can get in!! If not I may try to be a transient student at a local community college to take it.
Hi everyone, I am super sad... took my Chem exam yesterday & I know for a fact that I did not do too wellI have been maintaining an A all semester long and still have the freakin final to take in 2 weeks. I was really hoping for an A, but I think my grade will now drop to a B... UGHH.
Also, anyone in northern CA having a hard time enrolling into summer/fall classes?! Classes are full already, even waitlists!
I PRAY I get into anatomy + micro this fall!!
I totally feel you! I have gotten A's on every lecture exam in Chem and this last exam on gas laws was NOT my best work. I have a final in one week so I hope I make up points on that. I'm sitting on a 95 in lecture and an 86 in lab. Thankfully most of my calculated values (for the citric acid titration lab practical) were decent and might bring up my lab grade. Ahhh! I'm gonna miss Chem though. Nothing gets my blood pumping like a timed calculations exam.
Sorry for serial posting! Yes I'm having issues getting into anatomy (this summer) and physiology (in the fall). I can't register for physiology because I'm Waitlisted for anatomy this summer. I'm 10th on the waitlist but I'm pretty sure I'll get in since it's a 7am class and students are less likely gonna want to do that over the summer for 6 weeks.
It's almost time to start our summer thread!
I'm having second thoughts on the EMT program plans. Financial aid concerns, time off concerns, cost concerns. I mean I want to - but the cost (for the program, supplies and the med term class) are prohibitive. I hate to sink that much money into a certification that I only want for a summer job. Especially considering the cost of nursing school, should I be accepted.
Also, the lure of having a whole semester off before I jump into the ocean of nursing school is quite appealing at this point.
If you decide not to do it, you can start working as a PCT after your first semester of nursing school! If you're that close to nursing school and the EMT certification is going to be tough financially, you may want to just wait and work as a PCT.

There's accelerated EMT classes for nurses and your first semester of nursing school can qualify to work in the hospital as a tech.

It was alright. Better than I thought! I know I nailed the essay and short answer section (which was half of the exam) and felt pretty confident about the True/False section. Some of the multiple choice were a little iffy though and felt like trick questions. Gotta love it when that happens. haha I'm still waiting for grades to be posted though so we shall see!
