They're bumping people off with a higher GPA and allowing people with lower GPA's just because they work at Baycare? Does not seem very fair to me.
There is a contract between Baycare and SPC. Many EAYL students are taught at the BayCare office, and don't even come to our campus. Many more will be sitting among you in class. Many of these EAYL students with lower GPAs are doing much better than the students who brag about getting in with a 4.0. These students are more invested (as there is a contract involved), generally more experienced and committed, and more likely to be successful in the program. This model works for SPC, BayCare, and the local community.
I just left the HEC center and I'm number 7. :)
So happy they let us know! Feel so much better now about my chance of being admitted, but regardless will be stressed till that official acceptance email is received July 17th
my advisor didn't say exactly, but said I was between 1-5 on the list
Well, thankfully for them there is the EAYL program, otherwise they would not be getting into the program with those kinds of GPA's. I would say that people are just as invested and committed with a 4.0 or else they would not have that GPA to begin with. I can see the EAYL people being committed and invested because their employer is paying for the program. Wonder if they do not make it, if they have to pay Baycare back?
Wonder why they couldn't tell you an EXACT number? Seems very strange to me.
I'm sure she would of told me if I specifically asked, hearing I was 1-5 was good enough for me. I wasn't even sure they would share with us what alternate number we are after it not being stated in the email. I was under the impression they didn't want students to know for whatever reason.
