SPC Spring 2019

Published

I've been active on a different thread for people who applied to St. Petersburg College's Nursing program starting in August 2018. I made it on the alternate list (still completing Microbiology-finals tomorrow!), but have decided, with the help of an HEC advisor, not to accept if I get offered a last minute seat based on the fact that my only options for clinicals will be whatever no one else wanted. She said I'll definitely be accepted for January and will have top choice of clinicals/instructors, so I'm happy waiting another four months to start. Who else is applying for the Spring 2019 program?

They said they will send emails out and we'll have to register for each one as there are only so many slots for each one so don't panic just yet I only have the one for 12/10 in my notes as well

Thanks Leon!

I got Palms of Pasadena...nights. I think it was my 2nd choice. But that works fine because my surgeon I work for now goes there for his cases so I'm familiar with some of the staff already.

I'm at Palms now. It's a really small hospital, but everyone there is super nice for the most part. The BCIR section is interesting because there are only 2 hospitals in the country that do this type of procedure. Mr. Barnes is cool, but expects you to know your stuff. Good luck!

Hey everyone and congratulations on your acceptance into the nursing program, I am currently in level 1 and would like to offer you some advice as I know how it feels to be your shoes. First off, I am going to warn you not to scare you but so you know this is going to be the hardest thing you have done in your life, with that said you can do it. The first 6 weeks are crazy if you work I suggest you figure something out there is literally no time for anything especially the first 6 weeks. You have 2 clinical tests and 1 theory test in this time along with completing all the mandatory check off's for clinical on top of mandatory assignments that you get absolutely no credit for. You are going to feel like pulling your hair out and believe me, I cried a lot but, if you can make it through the first 6 weeks then your golden. My second piece of advice is its ok to get a B or C on an exam the passing grade for nursing is 80% so an 80 is a C. Don't set yourself up for disappointment, I know everyone who is going into nursing school is used to getting A's or you wouldn't have gotten in, but remember this when you graduate your tag says RN not A B C. No one knows what you got and in nursing unless you tell them and honestly no one really cares its not a competition anymore everyone is on the same team trying to achieve the same goal. Which brings me to my third piece of advice work together not against each other find a good study group you will need them and use NIPS its free tutoring and they are super helpful! I hope this helped a little if you have any questions feel free to ask.

No worries! I always like to try and help people out, since other people on here have helped me out. It's a very tough program.

Hey Everyone if you haven't checked your emails do so if you want to reserve your seat for the workshop on the 10th I've alteady submitted mine and got the confirmation back

Best wishes

My sincere thanks to all who gave their words of wisdom from their past experiences. It is greatly appreciated

Spring Clinical Guide and Theory modules are up...Commons...Course Content...Handbook and Modules...NUR 1021C Fall 2018-Spring 2019. Print out everything and throw it in a binder. I had 2 separate binders. One for theory and one for Lab.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! Thank you for the words of wisdom as well. I can't wait for this semester to be over, and to start the program.

Did anyone try to get the books yet at the bookstore like they told us with showing the anticipated financial aid? They told me I cant until after 12/17 when financial aid is released.
