Sounds like they wanted a CXR s/p central line insertion to check placement and to peek at the status of the patient's pneumonia. Or maybe they just put pneumonia and CVP in the order to remind the insurance company that they put in the central line because the patient has pneumonia and they wanted to monitor CVP. But what the heck do I know? lol
However, I really wish our Docs had to order their stuff in the computer. I swear that some of them write with their feet....
Did you call and ask for clarification?
I was rotating on an adult ICU floor and one of the nurses got into some trouble (not sure what happened to the nurse but mgr took her into the office) because there was an order an MD wrote and the nurse didn't know what the order said and she decided to wait until the physicians came back that afternoon to ask. The MD was very very angry that she did not call him, and even though the patient was not harmed, he went straight to the unit manager.

Had a patient who had this ordered this afternoon. Our MDs have a computer order system - The PA's order read "SP CVP Insertion" and the reason for the order was "pneumonia". I asked 2 other more experience nurses (including charge) what it was and neither of them knew.
