Southwestern College ADN 2016

Published

Hello All,

I wanted to start this thread for those fellow applicants that applied for the Southwestern Community College Fall 2016 ADN Program. Not sure If this is a little late but I have yet to receive my notification regarding being invited or not for the program. As you can probably assume, I am extremely nervous right now and have been ever since I submitted my application. I've been in contact with Martha over there and she informed me that they were currently showing attention to the Step-Up program and they should be completed by this week. After completing their portion, the remainder of the letter will be sent out.

Has any one been offered a spot in the ADN program for the fall 2016 cohort yet?

I think I will use a paperclip.

What did you score on your teas?

I emailed the person that does the pre req eval like a few days ago and they never responded back. The person said i could email it to them. Should I just go there? that is all i need to turn in my apps lol.

For the teas you turn it in with your packet,or go on ATI and pay 27 for official transcripts. Swc takes unofficial

I scored a 78 on my teas. Are you guys planning to apply anywhere else like Grossmont?

Yes I am turning in my apps to palomar next week! I have about 83 points with palomar.

You have really good points. I am sure you will get in anywhere you apply!!! Your dilemma will be to decide where you want to go.

Thank you! I really want to go to Southwestern but the thing is it is way too far from me. It is at least 23 miles away from me. Palomar is about 15 miles. So i guess they are all far haha. @BoBayla told me about the cross enrollment from SWC to SDSU and I was really interested in that. I am not sure if SDSU accepts cross enrollment from any community college for ADN - BSN. For the longest time I wanted to just get my ADN because I just want to start working and make money and move out on my own. I just turned 21 and I feel that I need to start living on my own haha! But people tell me that BSN is essential now. so lol

My CNA professor told me that it is essential to get a BSN.

Hey guys!

I'm applying to MiraCosta, Palomar, and grossmont for fall 2017. If I get at least 80 on my TEAS (im trying to score higher) I'll have at least 83 points! I have my Emt but not my CNA license yet (used to have it in another state) so SWC isn't an option for me. For those of you talking about bsn programs I've been told by several people and have researched it a bit, that Point Loma Nazarene is doing a bridge program with the community colleges (city, grossmont, MiraCosta, and Swc I'm pretty sure) where you stay on the community college campus, but get your bsn through Point Loma after you finish your adn. That's the route I'm planning on going since it will be so much cheaper and I have the BOG waiver!

you can get a job in SD as an adn but options are more limited as a lot of hospitals are only taking bsns now! I work for Ucsd La Jolla and a few nurses have told me that they don't really take adns anymore due to the hospital having magnet status. But I've been told kaiser and scripps still hired adns :)

Thanks for the great info!!! Good luck I am sure you will get in to the schools you are applying for!!! I heard Grossmont is one of the best nursing schools.

@Larocquh

Good luck! I am also applying to Miracosta, Grossmont, and Palomar! As well as National University. When are you taking your teas? I scored an 80 on my first try! The science part is the hardest for me.

Have you turned in your apps for any program?
