Southwestern College ADN Fall 2020

Published

Hey guys. Making this for those who are applying to SWC’s (Chula Vista, CA) ADN program for Fall 2020. Application period starts soon (November 4)! Write your questions to help each other out throughout the application period. If you want, post the amount of points you have in the point system.

Here’s the amount of points I have

Associates Degree - 5 points

CNA Certification - 25 points

Science Prereq GPA - 30 points (4.0 GPA)

”Fixed Set” GPA - 8 points (3.9 GPA)

Life Experience - 3 points

Language - 3 points (Spanish, documented proficiency)

TEAS test - 15-22 points ... I still need to take the TEAS. I want to give myself enough time!

So that puts me at 89-96/100 points.

Years of hard work into one packet... and now we wait.

Good luck to you all. You guys got this.

Did you guys submit your application in person or by mail? Did you get a receipt or any confirmation that it was received? I plan to submit mine next week.

Anyone who attended -

Did she mention how long physicals are good for? I had one in March 2019 for my CNA. I know in general physicals are good for 1 year, but wasn't sure for this program.

I left her a voicemail yesterday, but haven't gotten a call back yet. Thanks!!!

I hope you got a response?

I don't recall when/who told me this but I ended up having to go get another physical because my last one was in 2018 for my CNA. So I believe its good for a year for the application as well, but definitely double check.

Hi!

I am scheduled for the TEAS next week and then will be submitting my application afterwards as well. My points are currently standing at

Associates- 5

CNA- 25

Science courses (4.0)- 30

Overall (3.8)- 8

Life experiences- 5

TEAS- 15/22 outcome pending haha.

overall = 88-95

I am so excited after these few years of classes, and working for it all to come together to get here! The only downfall is waiting until summer comes around to find out if we are accepted or not. ? Fingers crossed and good luck to all! (Also shout out to whoever created this thread.. thank you!)

@Altobar - Straight A’s on the prereqs... nice! You should be in great shape with those points. Good luck on the TEAS!

How long are TB results good for?

I had a TB blood test done in June 2019

Is it good for a year just like Grossmont’s program? I called Southwestern but no one answered

@MUSEic I would say that's okay! because it would not have lapped over a year from when they are reviewing applications which starts in February. It would be more concerning if you had it done in February or March 2019 but June would be okay.

Does anyone know how long our brief statement needs to be for the Life Experience category?

UPDATE: I was told that TB results are good for a year!

They told me that they were receiving calls all day about the same question lol... thought this can help others if I put this out there ?

Does anyone know what was the minimum points they were accepting last year??

Where do we turn in the applications?

The address is on the bottom of the check off list..the Otay Mesa campus

Hi everyone! I turn in my application soon and I'm so nervous! I have 76 points and am terrified I'm not competitive :(

I have a friend who said it was mid 70's. The advisor who admits students said the same, and she also said that mid 70's was a bit higher than the average cohort.
