Published

Hey guys. Making this for those who are applying to SWC’s (Chula Vista, CA) ADN program for Fall 2020. Application period starts soon (November 4)! Write your questions to help each other out throughout the application period. If you want, post the amount of points you have in the point system.

Here’s the amount of points I have

Associates Degree - 5 points

CNA Certification - 25 points

Science Prereq GPA - 30 points (4.0 GPA)

”Fixed Set” GPA - 8 points (3.9 GPA)

Life Experience - 3 points

Language - 3 points (Spanish, documented proficiency)

TEAS test - 15-22 points ... I still need to take the TEAS. I want to give myself enough time!

So that puts me at 89-96/100 points.

Years of hard work into one packet... and now we wait.

Good luck to you all. You guys got this.

I had a feeling we would have to reapply ?I wonder if we will hear something no matter what.. if we are in or not?

Thanks for emailing her! Let’s keep praying ??I’m trying to keep positive but I just feel like if we were in we would have heard by now....

No problem ☺️ I asked her, too if we would get notified even if we don’t get in. She said they generally don’t even contact us but she said if we don’t hear anything we can still send her an email.

I know right! I’m thinking the same thing. Like we’re just being lead on and remaining positive is the only thing we can do. Honestly, I feel like because SWC is the only school that’s still doing nursing other schools have paused that no one is willing to give up their spots ? but I’m hoping they are just waiting last minute to notify us ??

So basically if they email us that we’re in it’ll be from now till next Monday/Tuesday maybe? Ya if I don’t hear anything by then I will send her an email just to see what’s going on..

The one thing that does give me a little hope is that there are still open spots showing on webadvisor for all of the classes so I don’t know what to think ??

I would wait till Friday next week to see if we hear anything. They start next Monday, they have to see who shows up during the first week.

Maybe it’s not filled cuz I remember during orientation. Didn’t they say it’s going to be hybrid? Half of the students in class and other half online. I doubt they can all be in a big group. It’s been a while since orientation I feel like I forgot so many things that were discussed ?

They did say they are still accepting 60 students though. I believe it’s online lectures and maybe in person skill lab? But I’m not too sure. I do know that they are split up in smaller groups for the labs.

I guess we will continue waiting and see what happens ???

Soo im guessing nothing for the alternates? Good luck to everyone in the program and hopefully us alternates will get in next round

We still technically have Friday the latest to hear word. But I mean to be honest ? doesn’t look good for us. I don’t think some of the other alternates are on here. So I wonder if others have gotten in. Anyway, if not. Good luck as well to everyone hopefully next year will be the year ??

Hello all,

I’ve been seeing comments without an account for a while as I was considered an alter as well. I emailed 3 of the nursing department staff and got an email from the Assistant Director of Nursing saying their cohort was completed since May and if we haven’t been notified (since they already started this week), then we did not get accepted. ? hard to hear but let’s try again next time.

Wish everyone the best.

Has anyone heard anything new from grossmont college? They were saying to check the website for updates but I can’t find any info regarding Covid and the plans for upcoming semesters.

I haven't heard anything from Grossmont College. I believe they are updating their website for like 3 weeks already.

Hi all! Just found this thread (it is now March 31, 2021) and wondered what scores got you into the program, particularly the LVN to RN. Do they fill the 10 slots for LVN to RN?

Any info you can share would be helpful. Thanks
