Southwestern College ADN Fall 2020

Published

Hey guys. Making this for those who are applying to SWC’s (Chula Vista, CA) ADN program for Fall 2020. Application period starts soon (November 4)! Write your questions to help each other out throughout the application period. If you want, post the amount of points you have in the point system.

Here’s the amount of points I have

Associates Degree - 5 points

CNA Certification - 25 points

Science Prereq GPA - 30 points (4.0 GPA)

”Fixed Set” GPA - 8 points (3.9 GPA)

Life Experience - 3 points

Language - 3 points (Spanish, documented proficiency)

TEAS test - 15-22 points ... I still need to take the TEAS. I want to give myself enough time!

So that puts me at 89-96/100 points.

Years of hard work into one packet... and now we wait.

Good luck to you all. You guys got this.

Does anyone know if we can retake the TEAS more than once? Or will SWC only take the first passing score (>62%)?

@MUSEic when are you taking the TEAS?

I believe you can only take it ONE TIME if you passed with a 62% or higher. A second attempt is only allowed if you failed the first attempt; you have to go through that Remediation Plan tho.

I’m taking the TEAS late January for sure. Last time I took Anatomy and Physiology was in Spring 2017 and Fall 2017, respectively... so I need to brush up lol.

Nope they will not allow retakes if you receive a passing score. I learned the hard way.

Thanks for the responses. That's what I was suspecting too. Guess I'll just forfeit the fees I paid and just reschedule.

I’m probably overthinking this app process. For the requirements of Driver’s License, CNA certification, SSN card, Immunization Records, High School diploma, etc., do we come with the ORIGINAL cards at the time of application?

Is the nursing program gonna make copies of all of that through a computer scanner for their records? Thx

I am not so sure about that as well but since it said " COPY of ...." I think we need to make a copy of them and attach them with the application. It would be good to have those original while you are turning the application incase if they need it.

Hello !

I’m applying to the LVN to RN step up only if I don’t get into City’s LVN to RN step program. Does anyone know if I need a 62% in each section on the TEAS for Southwestern or they just look at the overall score? Good luck to everyone applying?.

I believe 62% is the minimum OVERALL score.

Hi everyone! Planning to turn in my application before the end of the month. I'm currently having my transcripts evaluated so just hoping everything goes okay.

For the TEAS exam it says "COPY" of TEAS on the app checklist - to send the TEAS score officially it costs $27... does anyone know if we can just print out our own score off the site and submit it with our app?

I called the ADN office and they didn't answer, I'll try again tomorrow.

Hi @koeky25 - were you able to find an answer? I was just going to submit a copy of my results. I'm planning to submit my application before the end of the month too.

I specifically asked the same question at the info session & Veronica Pineda said that we do not have to have the official ATI transcript sent to the school. A copy of the results were sufficient to be included in the package.

Thank you!! Good to know, now I don't have to waste the money

Anyone who attended -

Did she mention how long physicals are good for? I had one in March 2019 for my CNA. I know in general physicals are good for 1 year, but wasn't sure for this program.

I left her a voicemail yesterday, but haven't gotten a call back yet. Thanks!!!
