Southwestern College ADN Fall 2020

Published

Hey guys. Making this for those who are applying to SWC’s (Chula Vista, CA) ADN program for Fall 2020. Application period starts soon (November 4)! Write your questions to help each other out throughout the application period. If you want, post the amount of points you have in the point system.

Here’s the amount of points I have

Associates Degree - 5 points

CNA Certification - 25 points

Science Prereq GPA - 30 points (4.0 GPA)

”Fixed Set” GPA - 8 points (3.9 GPA)

Life Experience - 3 points

Language - 3 points (Spanish, documented proficiency)

TEAS test - 15-22 points ... I still need to take the TEAS. I want to give myself enough time!

So that puts me at 89-96/100 points.

Years of hard work into one packet... and now we wait.

Good luck to you all. You guys got this.

Hey y'all!

Kinda bummed I found this forum so late in the game but I just wanted to pop in and share the information I know some of you are wondering:

I was accepted into SWC, but Grossmont is my first choice! I emailed the Grossmont nursing faculty and one of the members emailed me back saying that with all of the craziness that's happening right now with COVID, "applications are still being processed and no new info or updates as far as when or if notifications of any kind will be going out." This made me a bit anxious.
So in such an uncertain time, I've decided to continue with SWC. Better safe than sorry! I know this information is a bit late too, but I hope it puts some minds at ease for having to choose SWC over Grossmont.

I'm so excited to meet some of y'all in the upcoming future.

Stay safe!

Well they did say today at the zoom conference that you could accept and drop it to go to another program.

Grossmont posted this today in their ADN program website. They’re not accepting students for FALL 2020. Either grab onto your spot or wait who knows until when /:

Thanks for posting this! Does anyone have any updates for other schools? (Mira Costa, Palomar, San Diego City). I know this is A southwestern thread but I’m just curious if anyone applied anywhere else

Mira Costa and City are still going on but IDK about Palomar.

Palomar Fall 2020 applicants pushed back to Spring 2021

Have any alternates received a call?

No, I have not. Have you heard anything?

Nothing yet!

Hopefully there was some that did not show up for orientation and should hear soon ?

I havent either. I was hoping someone would be called considering ------------------ called out 3-4 names who did not show up to orientation. Maybe they were also alternates

And let’s wait for the deadlines. And for the background check and all that.

Does anyone know how many alternates there are this cohort?

I thought it was 10-15?

I'm guessing about 20 considering there was 85-90 participants and normally 60 students are accepted.
