Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hi everyone! I’m starting this thread so we can share our application criteria points with each other! I just turned in my application today. I have between 85 and 88 points. I have 3 B’s on my science prerequisites :((, 4.0 gpa for all the general Ed courses. I have fluency in Spanish, an associates degree, CNA, and volunteer experience. I scored an 88 on my TEAS! I hope they can look past my grades in my prerequisite courses and I get in!!! I hope we all get into this cohort! Good luck everyone

I heard there are free cna programs but there is a waitlist.

Think some people qualify for grants, so don't or didn't have to pay.

Has anyone decided if they would prefer day or nights?

That's the upside of going to community college programs. I think mine was a private cna program. Luckily, I also did not have to pay because the military paid for it.

I know that I will have to go to the day schedule, because of my work schedule. But I heard from multiple people that the night class is a easier than the day class. I am not sure why that is. If it weren’t for my work schedule I would actually prefer to sign up for the night class.

Someone said because of the instructors but there is no guarantee there would be the same instructors. And I seen on indeed they are looking to hire new instructors for the adn program. So there might be new professors this year. Does anyone know the hours for days and evenings?

I feel like evenings probably get let out earlier than days. That is probably why they like it better but dont want to say it outloud ?? I would think days would be more stricked when I came to that but evenings may be more relaxed. Just my opinion.

I was thinking that it might be due to the instructors, but it was the same when my brother was in the program a couple years ago and the same when is girlfriend went through the program too. There were different night class instructors. I will have to ask him about it. I don’t know if the schedule is going to be same as last year, but here are last years first semester schedule.

Days:

Tues & Wed 9 am - 3 pm

Clinical on Thursday typically 12 hour shift

Night:

Tues 4:30 pm - 6:30 pm

Thur: 1 pm - 5 pm

Clinical Saturday 6:30 am - 4:30 pm

Well it seems by the schedule you provided that days have longer class time. Total 12 hours a week but evenings do 7 hours a week of classroom time.

Boo .. if I get in, I know it will be eve/weekends ... I live so far from Chula Vista ?. And they go to campus 2x a week.

May have to move closer if I get accepted.

Why would the clinical be shorter on sat? They would have the same requirements regardless of what group you're in. There is no way weekends get less class and clinical time.

I am not sure. We’ll probably find out during orientation.

Why dont you like evenings, seems like they get shorter days like I thought was the case. And 1 clinical day a week!? Wow, that's really doable.
