  1. I passed the NCLEX. I went in totally expecting to fail, but I passed. I should be happy but I am honestly terrified. I graduated nursing school with most of my clinicals being online or in SIM because of the pandemic and I totally do not feel prepared to be an actual nurse. I went to take my ACLS and PALS the other day and when they asked me questions that I should know I just drew a blank. I really want to be a good nurse and be able to provide the best care that patients deserve, but I just feel downright incompetent. I do have New Grad program interviews lined up but my confidence is at an all-time low. I honestly feel like I learned nothing from nursing school. At this point I am just looking for insight. What should I do? Should I study more or should I just give up?
  2. The ADN semester starts 2 weeks before the regular school semester.
  3. Yup! Zoom tends to work better through the mobile app. I use my phone or iPad sometimes when I do not want to deal with laptop WiFi acting up ?
  4. One advice for Zoom. Mute your mic if you are not talking because all that background noise from like 60 something people is going to drive you crazy! Yes there is a chat available for everyone to use. I usually keep my mic off and just type in the chat when I am in Zoom meetings. Also make sure your webcams are working because the prof would want to see you.
  5. It’s as hard as I expected it to be. I have had family and friends in this program, so I already knew it was going to be hard. Also depending on which class (day/eve) is also a factor in difficulty as well. I mean I was prepared to be stressed out of my mind when I decided to go to nursing school. ?
  6. So far only UCSD Hillcrest is allowing students. So there is only one group of students that are actually physically in clinical. While all the other groups are doing case studies and virtual clinical simulation. But from what I heard is that the faculty are in the talks with facilities on getting actual clinical placements with hospitals, but if hospitals are not allowing students they will try for clinical placements in clinics or SNFs or do on-campus simulation. As for lectures we are doing Zoom meetings, I hope to god that your Profs do pre-recorded lectures so you don't have to deal with lag that much. Hope this answers your questions.
  7. Hopefully. From what I heard from Grossmont students is that they completely shut down their program. So does that mean they will have 2 sets of first semester students? It seems complicated at this point. I am so glad that SWC decided to keep going. Let me know if you have any questions. I need a distraction from all the studying. ?
  8. I am currently a first year student at SWC. There are usually 10 alternates and quite a few get in. A couple of my good friends were alternates. That being said with the situation right now I am not sure how many people are willing to give up their spot seeing how almost every other nursing program is on hold and SWC is going strong.
  9. I think it gets harder as you go. The Cinical skills are fairly easy you just keep practicing. It’s the critical thinking and the actual lecture material that is super difficult. Because it’s just A LOT of information.
  10. Wouldn’t you have to drive two times week to Chula Vista with either schedule?
  11. Totally forgot to mention that you have to leave room in your schedule for skills lab. Because especially during the first semester we do have to practice our fundamental skills. The other semester skills really build on the fundamentals.
  12. I am not sure. We’ll probably find out during orientation.
  13. I was thinking that it might be due to the instructors, but it was the same when my brother was in the program a couple years ago and the same when is girlfriend went through the program too. There were different night class instructors. I will have to ask him about it. I don’t know if the schedule is going to be same as last year, but here are last years first semester schedule. Days: Tues & Wed 9 am - 3 pm Clinical on Thursday typically 12 hour shift Night: Tues 4:30 pm - 6:30 pm Thur: 1 pm - 5 pm Clinical Saturday 6:30 am - 4:30 pm
  14. I know that I will have to go to the day schedule, because of my work schedule. But I heard from multiple people that the night class is a easier than the day class. I am not sure why that is. If it weren’t for my work schedule I would actually prefer to sign up for the night class.
