Southwestern College ADN Fall 2019

Published

Hi everyone! I’m starting this thread so we can share our application criteria points with each other! I just turned in my application today. I have between 85 and 88 points. I have 3 B’s on my science prerequisites :((, 4.0 gpa for all the general Ed courses. I have fluency in Spanish, an associates degree, CNA, and volunteer experience. I scored an 88 on my TEAS! I hope they can look past my grades in my prerequisite courses and I get in!!! I hope we all get into this cohort! Good luck everyone

I would Start as soon as possible! Apparently in 2020 the institute of medicine is requiring nurses to have their BSN in order to be employed at hospitals.

But I have been told multiple things. Some say if you are working towards your BSN and have your ADN hospitals will hire u. But idk.

Sooner u start the sooner u get the degree. But the advice from current students may be more beneficial than mine ?

Well I mean I would still have to finish the adn program to get my bsn. So it would still be the same time frame. I meant like is the first year harder than the second year of the Adn/rn program. If the first year is harder I would take 1 class that year and 2 classes the second year.

Ahhh. I see ?

Don't quote me.... I have been told multiple things.

I'm sure u could at a nursing home or in home health.

Yea I've also heard that hospitals will hire an Adn/rn if they sign an agreement stating they will get their bsn within a certain time frame. But they always give deadlines for things that never come. Like needing a doctorates to be a nurse practitioner. They had deadlines for years stating they will no longer have master programs for NPs but they still allow it.

They do require a doctorate for that now! I think that went into effect a couple years ago... No?

I still see MSN programs for NP. I also spoked to my nurse practitioner at my old school and she said they are still allowing masters degrees. But I spoke to her in 2016 so maybe its changed but doubt it.

Yea, idk why they keep saying deadlines but never really fully follow through with them I'm sure they are slowly but surely making it harder to get a job as a NP with a masters but still possible im sure. Maybe they did finally go through with it. Maybe we can ask at orientation.

W/E is 3 days a week and days is 2 days a week days has lectures for both classes in one day, whereas w/e has the different class lectures on different days.

The hours for both are the same. Days has one extra hour between lectures for lunch.

The easiness of difficulty of the program will be entirely different. You will be the first cohort with a bunch of changes. The books and NCLEX prep are all changing.

? I hate being the Guinea pig for new things. It's always chaos. Hopefully, that's not the case.

Did any alternates hear?

I guess that's a no. Lol

If you are really pressed for answers I would hop on the grossmonts post and asked if anyone got accepted to southwestern and if they declined the offer. Lol t

That's what I would do. Lol

Lol! I think I'm good at the moment... Perhaps as time goes on. You're funny!
