Southwestern College ADN Fall 2019

Hi everyone! I’m starting this thread so we can share our application criteria points with each other! I just turned in my application today. I have between 85 and 88 points. I have 3 B’s on my science prerequisites :((, 4.0 gpa for all the general Ed courses. I have fluency in Spanish, an associates degree, CNA, and volunteer experience. I scored an 88 on my TEAS! I hope they can look past my grades in my prerequisite courses and I get in!!! I hope we all get into this cohort! Good luck everyone

Do any of the current ADN students know how likely the alternates are to get in? Like have most gotten in in the past few years?

I was feeling really positive, but now I'm feeling really nervous.

I know it's been a long weekend but no need to worry. No other alternates have posted they got notice and we had until Friday to accept or decline. I'm sure you guys will start hearing back tomorrow.

Hey girl! I know, I'm more concerned because I don't want to think I'm almost in when the possibility is lower than I'm expecting... No one has said that they were declining... But then again there really are not that many people on here commenting.

I guess I'll just have to be fine with the unknown. I just feel like I'm in, then I have to remind myself that I'm an alternate. Lol :(

It's so hard to judge from past cohorts since we seem to be an anomaly but I snooped on a few people's profiles awhile back that had high points and they accepted grossmonts program and they were interacting with that post and stopped interacting on this one. So they might just never come back on here to say they rejected the offer. And that was about 5 people that accepted grossmonts and also applied to southwestern. Being an alternate sucks because you could be waiting all the way until August to know for sure you got denied. In our acceptance letter it said the final acceptance will be when we pass our background check and immunizations and I know at least 1 person that applied will not have the cleanest record and tried to see if they can slip through. Lol

I dont know them personally. I meant like it's highly possible that is the case. And what checks?

I’ll say this again everyone on my cohorts alternative list got in I wouldn’t worry so much also being you guys got accepted so late usually those with a lot of points got in somewhere else and will forfeit their seats do not stress and if you didn’t get denial or a seat letter your most likely on the second list of alternatives I have a feeling a lot of you will get in. We found out in March if we got in or if we were alternatives and the alternatives got emails April 5th for a spot and some even got in a few days before the school started stay positive guys not everyone knows this website is out there so you won’t know for sure but stay positive please alternative email is better than nothing trust me on that adn i was an alternative and I got in!

Ah, no they never asked for any money to cover that yet. I was wondering what will be going on at orientation. Do we do all that then ? Do we get our picture taken and scrubs issued? I'm not sure. I wish I can take a pic of the acceptance letter and post it and show people. I always wondered what it said when I was snooping through these posts.

I just resigned to the fact I probably won’t know much more until the orientation. The wait is unbearable though.
