So did anyone or is anyone currently in the FNP or Adult NP online program at this time? I spoke to an admissions rep and was really impressed. The set up is nice with one course at a time, although was told you can talk to your advisor and sometimes layer your courses here and there as well (like an 11wk course with one 5.5 wk course) which I'd prefer to do to get done faster...since I did my ASN at Excelsior and am finishing my BSN I'm well used to online format courses and have my time down to a science. I was planning on beginning my application process now, so that in December we submit everything with the potential to start the first week of Feb 2014...anyone else??? Any thoughts???
Im in the middle of finding a FNP program. I don't want to wait a year before starting an in-class program so I am looking into an online. Can anyone tell me why they decided Georgetown vs South ? Im getting overwhelmed reading between the two and figured Id try to reach out to someone who looked at the same two options. Thanks in advance. - Jodi
Admittedly, I have plenty of research to go when it comes to finding the right program. However, I can tell you right off the bat that Gtown seems to be one of the pricier programs out there in regards to tuition. Also, from my limited research, it seems that South has one of the shorter programs in terms of duration. Has anyone found any other programs that can contend with South's in that regard?
I know that South only does 1 class at a time and there are no breaks in between. At GU you can take 2-3 classes, 12 students per class and the class is scheduled weekly. Im in the early phase of looking around but its tough finding an online program who is CCNE in MA. GU is CCNE and ACNE which is huge!

I am currently taking SU's FNP. They want you to finish the first course by taking one course only, once your done with the first one you can tell them that you want to take 2 classes at a time.
I graduated from SU-Online in March and passed my boards on the first attempt a month later. I was prepared and had no problem with the program. I had several mid-term and final exams during my practicum courses. The course-work could be challenging at times and requires dedication and self-direction. It is not wise to procrastinate. As someone mentioned before, make sure you search for clinical sights in advance!

Hi azfliprn,
I have extensively looked into FNP programs for years! First of, I decided against brick and mortar local universities as they have outrageously complex applications processes that take for ever, application deadlines are almost a year in advance, they require GRE as well as certain amount of experience, require you to apply through nusingCAS, etc. They're a massive nighmare!
Online programs seem a tad sketchy and they're mostly new without a track record as far as graduation rates, pass rates, etc. Besides, being that they're online they could be gone tomorrow... I looked into real universities (with physical campuses throughout the country) that just happen to have online FNP programs.
Then it was price... SU FNP program is VERY competitive. Besides, my advisor is always available, knowkedgeable, and does not over promise. Many online programs seem way too eager to get you to sign on the dotted line (scary). But the one thing that had the most weight was the fact that in this very forum I met several graduates from the program that went through it and passed their boards!!! They provided a tangible example to me of what the program was like, its legitimacy, and real-life success.
BTW, I'm looking to start in the fall and I'm down to SU and Chamberlain. I'm way more inclined to go with SU but Chamberlain is offering me a phenomenal discount on tuition and that matters to me as I don't have unlimited resources.
Hope this helps!
