I go into work tonight get into my mailbox and find a nasty letter from one of my patients wrote and my boss copied it and put it there along with to good letters I got from 2 other patients. I just feel like we get told all the bad things most the time and never the good. It really ****** me off. The patient it came from is a known seeker and the thing is I think my boss believes the patients over her nurses and we never get backed up by her. I know she has a job to do and she wants me to improve but the crap the patient said is positively not true. I am dedicated to my job and take care of my patients to the best of my ability. The real reason i'm ticked is because she will never let me defend myself. I think my boss actually likes the way nasty comments make us feel. I know as nurses we cannot please everyone but when you try you get told you are a crappy nurse and should not be able to care for anyone. I just get so sick of all the bad and never get any of the good and when you do it's very little.

You got two good letters and one bad one, so I think that is ok. I am confused by your post? Would you want just the bad one? Or just the good? I think I want to see all the letters written to or about me. You can do the best you can, and that is it. You can't please em all! Do not take it personally especially if you know you did yor best. You will never make everyone happy! ANd you got more good than bad, so that is a good sign :) Hang in there and continue to do your best.

I read your title and Amen! sounds like I have the same Nurse Manager as you! Ypu sounds like a good nurse dedicated to your patients! Keep it up! I know its hard with a manager that doesn't care but it sounds like your doing a good job.

Sounds like your nurse manager has a problem. He/she should have taken you aside and discussed it, not put it in your mail box.

I don't understand most nurse managers, it's like they have NO heart whatsoever. No speck of human kindness. They ALL have these phoney smiles. Are they just burnt out? They must have been nice or kind originally, did the job grind them down?

I think too many Unit Managers do not pay attention to what the floor nurses actually have to do. they just sit in thier offices not concerned with what's going on outside of thier doors. I enjoy when the "Higher Up's" come out and speak with pts or residents actually caring what they say or how their cared for. I don't think they know what its like to be one of us.
