I am! That makes Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years! So much for he rotating holidays. Anyway, I am ok with it. Who else is working?

I am off over holidays this year but only because I went casual(prn) after 22 yrs of nursing and sick of doing a lot of holidays. I now enjoy staying home with the kids on the holidays whilst they are still young. Here in NZ you get double time and a day of annual leave in lieu! Same for Boxing day and any other public holiday! Merry Christmas to people who are working 25th!

Halloween is not a real holiday. I love it more than most, but it's not on a par with Thanksgiving or Christmas or Easter.

I'll probably be floating to another unit.I wish I wasn't. My MIL was literally just diagnosed with terminal brain cancer two days ago. She might have a few months left with palliative chemo/radiation. My husband flew up to be with his family. I'm working the next three in a row. Blargghh.

Oh gosh, that's terrible! What a lousy thing to find out during Christmas. I'm sorry you're working but I wish your MIL the best of health and well being for a long time to come!

NIght shift does not get OT where I work. ANd the free holiday meal is only served on day shift. I wouldn't mind working the holidays if I got paid extra or if they were rotated fairly, but I am so sick of being told I have to work every holiday because I don't have kids. I am pregnant though, so let's see if this is reciprocated when my child arrives. I have a feeling it wont be, the night shift where I work gets the short end of the stick. We had so many call outs last night it was an AWFUL shift.

This is my first Christmas Eve and Christmas off in 3 years since I became a nurse. I have worked every single holiday for just about all 3 years.
Same here! My first Christmas Eve off after 3 years. Yay!

the call outs are horrible, then those who are off have their phone blowing up in the middle of their holiday off with voicemails from staff asking them to come in due to being short staffed.
