So, what will I be doing this summer?

Published

I have applied for nursing school for the Fall 2017 semester, and I am so excited! I want to be able to take a break and spend plenty of time with my family and my boyfriend during the summer before the program starts, so I made sure that I'll be finished with all my prerequisites by the end of April. I know that I'll have to do lots of things to get ready for fall though, but I figured you guys could give me a better idea of what I should be doing this summer to get ready. I know I'll probably have to have a background check, a physical, a drug test, and a TB skin test. I'll be buying a car since I don't have one yet. I'll probably be buying my supplies like my stethoscope, BP cuff, scrubs, etc. as well. Is there anything else that you guys had to do before you started nursing school?

I also had to take a BLS class during the summer. But other then that, I relaxed and kept my mind off of nursing.

Make absolutely sure you have all of your vaccines up to date. I had to make sure I had my book package, uniforms, shoes, take my cartilage earring out since it was against our dress code. Yeah, there actually wasn't much I had to do except buy stuff and make sure my health stuff was taken care of.

Congratulations on nursing school!!! You're going to love it!!!

First off, I would REST!!! Nursing is a whole other level of exhausting (it's worth every second of it though!!!!)

I outlined my foundations book before my first semester and was sooo thankful once the semester started. It made stressful weeks just a little better.

Double and triple check your supply lists early in the summer. They are all kinds of things on my list that I never would have thought of.

Good luck this semester!! Remember to breath, you will make it through, and it will all be behind you before you know it!
