Day # 8 and I have not even stepped inside of a hospital and so far I've been hit with: Brohncitis, fever (102), and a all round rump kicker virus.
On Thursday we had a three hour break which I ended up sleeping in my car with it turned on and the a/c going which brought my total sleeping within a 96 hour period to 56hours. Thank god i have the holiday to catch up:idea:
The second day of class of my first semester I sat next to a sick student. It was the first time I was in that class and I noticed about 3 minutes after sitting down how sick she was. I didn't want to embarass her by moving so I just sat there and tried to hold my breath....yeah....well....didn't work. I've been sick as a dog for the past week! I wouldn't have gone to clinicals the first week, but how would that have looked?!? Im sure Im the one everyone is trying to avoid now.
Welcome to nursing school everyone! Over a period of 5 months (nov. to apr.) I had the flu 3 x's and caught a cold twice. I missed the maximum 2 clinical days during both semesters. I slept well, ate well, and washed my hands like a germ freak, but my immune system absolutely failed me. I even had both flu shots (annual + H1N1). Prior to nursing school I had the flu twice in my entire 30 years of life. Best of luck to everyone and hope that you get sick on a friday, so you have the weekend to recover!

One kid with a fever yesterday, all three with copious nasal secretions, as we say now. I'm washing my hands like a thousand times a day hoping to avoid it, but it's probably too late. So early to bed tonight, and hope for the best. It looks like a typical cold virus, though, which is comforting. A week of misery and we're out of the woods.
I hope.
