So much info, So LITTLE Time!!!

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

I just received my acceptance letter during Spring Break and I am starting to feel a little overwhelmed. I have NO medical experience, I have finished all of my Pre-req.s. I really enjoyed Anatomy and Physiology and did pretty well in the classes, but reading these posts, I just wonder, how will I be able to learn everything in 2 years???? Anyone else feeling this way? :uhoh21:

All I can say is Congrats on your letter and take a deep breath. I will be just starting my pre-reqs this summer.

Good luck. It's hard to process, and actually you can't retain everything, but somehow we survive and make it through. It is indeed very overwhelming at first.

Congratulations on your acceptance letter!

Maybe you could volunteer a few hours a week at a local hospital.....just to get the feel for the environment, etc.

Let them know you are about to start nursing school, and want an actual pt. involved position, not just handing out flowers, etc.

you have done your prereqs, you have been accepted!! Congrats!! :) believe it or not, you are ready! I had no prior medical experience whatsoever either when I decided on nursing, so I can relate (as I am sure so many others can also) to how you feel. Just relax and remember to breathe! :) It is overwhelming, especially in the beginning, but take one day at a time, and be organized. Oh and be organized! LOL (did I say that already?) ;) You will do fine. I have 6wks left in my 2nd semester (ADN), and it has amazed me how far I have come already...and I can see that light at the end! :)

Take a deep breath and relax while you can.

The best advice I can pass on is to get a great planner/calendar to keep track of everything they will throw at you and just take things one day at a time.

You are more ready than you know so don't fret. While it can be a benefit at times to have some "clinical experience", it can also be a hinderence. I have seen many students who work in a hospital or LTC that have problems with skills because they have picked up bad habits.

I need your advice: I did not make it into the Nursing Program for the fall so I'm trying to think of my next step. Should I take the CNA class during the summer or continue my studies.I've been pursuing my BSN but had to switch to a community college because of my husbands job. :crying2: I'm only 2 semesters from getting the AA Degree. My GPA is 3.67 but the competiton is stiff. Only 40 students accepted and 300 applications(plus the waiting list which they say they don't have). We have 1 Univerisity but they do not have a Nursing Program. Please help! :)
