So little time...so much work, pre-requisites!

Hehehe :chuckle ...been there done that. It took me a few years because I'd get discouraged and quit but I did it.

You will too. The Chem was the hardest for me. I actually took it twice. :rolleyes:

So I'm applying for the Bachelor of Science nursing program for 2006. I have just a regular high school diploma (Canadian) and things have changed since I graduated in 1995...anyways...so now I have 6 pre-requisites to do before application time in Feb. 2006...argh!!! Biology, Chemistry, English and three other University prep courses (of my choice)! I am a mom and working so I will be doing these through the adult education by correspondence (at home, on my time)....man do I have to get my butt in gear!!!!!!! Need some positive thoughts and many pats on the back....this will be a tough 6 months, but I am determined!!! Feels weird working on high school courses again!!
Did I mention I hate pre-requisites!

I know the feeling............I will have to do Chemistry........and that is no fun when u have a 2 year old and a full time job dealing with.......

Hi *L ~

Just note of encouragment-- I JUST PASSED the NCLEX last Friday! Hurray!

I am a 34 year old Mom of 5 (4 of my own, and 1 stepdaughter!)

From College to Kindergarten! When I hit 30 , I thought I BETTER get into school NOW. So , I did.. with alot of encouragement from family.

Its a long hard road, but SO INCREDIBLY worth it with every milestone you achieve. It seems like its never going to end then WHAM! Its over and you're an R.N! Keep your chin up and KNOW there is a beautiful light at the end of the tunnel.. just keep telling yourself how much you want it.

My children and the importance of role-modeling was my guiding light.

You'd be amazed at how many women are in the same boat or worse. You will definetly need to gear up and prepare for times of frustration but at the end the payoff will the ten fold.

I don't have kids but I do work 2 part-time jobs (40+ hours combined), attend college at night til 10 pm, take care of the house/pets, volunteer in my community and help my husband with his job. I am also in the "sandwich" generation. By this I mean, My husband have agreed to start a family upon my graduation, at the same time I'd be working, caring for little ones, and caring for an sick mother and 2 extremely yound siblings. I can just imagine, but I have faith. I believe in myself and in my potential. I want to accomplish so much before I depart from this world, and most importantly I have God and his strength to get me through anything.

I was in the same boat you were in. I worked full time and went to night school and am almost done correspondence, I have my exam this saturday. I quit my job tomorrow. I have been accepted for this fall provided I get my chemistry credit.

My advice is take chem in school if you can, and do the easiest courses like bio and english at home. This may not be right for you but I found chem the hardest, bio and eng the easiest.

Start right away and work like mad to finnish early, then you can do nothing till school starts

I hear you!! I'm a Mom of three, and going back next fall. I graduated in '96, and have to go back and do Biology and Chem again before applying. I'm taking one correspodence and the other in night school in the fall!

It might seem like it a long way off but you will be done before you know it! I am taking my rpn (registered practical nurse) course at night and it will take four years all together plus the chem and bio I had to do first but I am almost half way through now. With 2 kids and two jobs it is tough but worth every bit of the craziness.Best of luck. :)
