Well your not alone. I got out of clinicals today and wanted to smoke badly. I'm thinking about really trying to stop this time. After seeing so much suffering in the hospital I said I dont want to be in this condition. I better stop smoking. It has been 2 days as well. Its a start and we can do it. I have been feeling the crave now for about 3 hrs, lol. I'm trying to stop cold turkey. I have stop before for like 2 months. Then another time 15 days. But this time I hopefully will not go back! Remember your not alone!
I quit 14 months ago. Keep it up.
It's not the physical addiction that kept getting me. It was the psychological addiction. I associate THIS time with smoking. Or that time. There is a commercial about that on TV now - if you can retrain your moments you associate with smoking, you can quit.
I used to bring my laptop out on the front porch in the mornings after work and smoke a few cigs while I posted to allnurses. NOW, I post nicotine-free from the comfort of my bedroom!

..and usually, the worst time for me is when I wake up from a nap. Since nursing school started, power naps have become "power comas" for me. I sleep very deeply, and when my alarm goes off, I usually awaken very suddenly and get that "jumped out of my skin" feeling. Well, I also get a bad nicotine craving when I jump out of bed.
However, instead of lying to myself, rationalizing a trip to 7-11, or any other nonsense; today, I got out of bed, walked to my bag, and actually used the nicotine gum.
That's it.
No horse and pony show here.
But.. it's a huge step in the right direction for me and for that, I am quite pleased :)
