SJSU Spring 2017 (Questions/Comments/Concerns)
I looked around to see if anyone had started a thread but nothing
Your health insurance provider should be able to provide vaccines and titers
I'm glad you mentioned this because I was wondering about the same thing!Does anybody have any idea where we can do these titer tests? I was thinking that maybe SJSU's Health Center has these services but I don't know...
I was just going to upload my immunization records that I've had the vacccines for Hep B, MMR, and Varicella since online it says you can upload proof of your vacccines OR the titers lab results but I don't have much time to get blood drawn so I think I'm just going to upload that I've gotten the vaccines
Also, she said we are supposed to get these things done AFTER the 10th of Dec. and before the deadline. Titers/vaccinations TB testingexcept the flu shot, as log as you had it in this current season you should be good for that one.
I got my vaccinations when I was a baby because those were the recommendations. I thought that if you completed the series (2 vaccinations for MMR, 2 for varicella, 3 for Hep B) you should be set/not have to get them anymore? Her saying we are supposed to get them after Dec. 10 is throwing me off, unless we're supposed to get them again?
As far as I can tell, TDaP is the only one that has to be recent (at least within last 10 years)
Thank God I'm not the only one that's confused/overwhelmed!
First problem, I emailed Dr. Rauch regarding the CPR certification, on the ARC site there are different titles for all the classes and I obviously want to take the right one. Soooo, she said, in her exact words,"CPR and AED for Health care Providers ( BLS)". Okay, so does the basic CPR and AED course, under the HEALTHCARE option on ARC site, not work? And what's the difference between the class titled "Basic Life Support for Healthcar Providers" and the "Adult & Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED" class?
- In her first response to me she also said to do this after December 10, and since I was hoping to get it over with I then asked why after Dec 10. She said because we cannot have our our credentials expire during the academic year, which makes sense. Here's where she threw me off: she said that she will explain everything in the New Student Workshop..... on Jan 23, 2017..........which is AFTER the due date for everything on CastleBranch. Does she expect us to not get the CPR certification done by the due date on CastleBranch??? So confusiiiinnnnnng
- THEN, as I was trying look for a class to sign up for, I noticed the class specifically titled "Life Support For Healthcare Professions" nearest is on Dec. 9 which is obviously not after Dec. 10 like Dr. Rauch had said. HAHAHAHAHA so confusing. I live in Monterey so I wanted something closer by rather than drive out to SJ. But looks like I will be taking the Dec. 10 BLS class in SJ.
Second thing, each vaccine has its own upload section on CastleBranch, but I just picked up my immunization record today and theyre all on one sheet. I asked if there were individual records for each individual vaccine and they said no. Okay, so am I going to have to upload my IZ record for each vaccine online?? Doesn't that seem more confusing than just uploading it once? Just because I'm confused about this Im leaning towards just getting titer's done. Maybe Quest will have individual reports.
Question: do you think we will need a work order to get the titers done? My mom brought it up and I realized she might have a point.
I have my physical on Thurs. at Doctors on Duty since none of the offices in Monterey are taking new patients Either way I plan on just asking for the Doc to grant me a work order, if it's needed.
I'm so lost haha

Yes! She said you can do them at the Health Center, but if you're like me and took the semester off you won't be able to get them there because you are not enrolled so they deny any services if that's the case. I went today hoping I could get them done, but thats what I was told. You won't be able to get any services until classes begin next semester. Hopefully I save some of you the trip there
