SJSU Fall 2016

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hi guys, I couldn't find a thread for the Fall 2016 program so I thought I would make one! It'll be awesome to meet people who are applying to the same nursing program! It would also be nice to get a general idea of this semester's applicant pool since I'm pretty sure everyone is quite nervous!

I believe that Fall 2015 cut-off score was 7.25 and in Spring 2016, students were accepted with 7.0 impaction score. So I have no idea if it will increase or decrease this time around, but it might be closer to the previous Fall semester...

Pre-Req GPA (According to 4-unit Anatomy, 5-unit Micro, 5-unit Physio, 3-unit Stats, 3-unit Eng): 3.85

TEAS Score: 87.3

Impaction Score: 7.65

Goodluck everyone! :)

I actually emailed the person that decides who gets into the program or not, she says that they changed it to add less emphasis on the TEAS score. Not sure if thats a good thing either, maybe they care more about what we got on our classes than the test now?

Hi brendasntn94

Was it Dr. Malloy you emailed?

Yes that's who I emailed

Brendasntn94 Your GPA is perfect and your impaction score is way above the previous cutoffs- I am positive you will be accepted! I am also getting so nervous, I can't wait to know if I will need to improve my application for the next time around, I just want to know already! Good luck everyone with still waiting another 3 weeks

Thank so much that means a lot though i still cant help to feel anxious. Good luck to you as well!

I emailed Malloy about the application and this is what she said

"for those who apply for Spring 2017, the TEAS will be divided by 30 (not 23); see BS information packet on web site Grades will count heavier by a bit"

So for the semester we applied for, it is still divided by 23, not 30

Thanks for the info thao22!

Hi everybody! just a quick update, you should be getting your letters next week especially if you live in the San Jose area. if you live farther than that then it will probably be during the last week of April at the latest. Good luck to everyone!

Thanks for the update brendasntn94!

If anyone gets their acceptance letter, if you could please tell us what your impaction score is, that would be great! It would take some stress off for some people :) Goodluck guys!

I just called the department and they maybe be sending out letters around the 28th of this month.

Hi mrmurse2b13, You mean they might come out in May possibly? did they tell you why its going to take longer than expected?

She said they were using a different system (NursingCas) this year for the first time, so it may take longer than expected. And a lot of applicants had course substitutions that they had to match with.
