I passed the NCLEX! But most importantly, my sincerest thanks for this board. I found this site about midway through my nursing program. It gave me the encouragement, inspiration, and determination to chase my dream of becoming a nurse. You guys deserve a round of applause :yeah:

Carolyn:

I was a little uneasy about my self-directed review. I signed up for a review course that was to start on a Monday. Three days before on Friday, it was cancelled due to low enrollment. So I decided to "do it myself." I reviewed using:

  1. The Saunders NCLEX book (good one), Hurst NCLEX book (mixed feelings about this one) specifically for the questions.
  2. Hogan's Pharmacology: Reviews and Rationales (used this one during school too - good series)
  3. ATI DVDs. I bought these DVDs on ebay dirt cheap. They came along with the books, but I found the books to be much like my textbooks and overwhelming. I especially liked the DVDs because, using a portable DVD player, I could listen while getting dinner ready, cleaning up, etc. And hit reverse if I needed to hear it again or pay closer attention. These DVDs were very very thorough but not overwhelming. I believe there were 5 DVD jackets in the series. Each jacket held either one, two or three DVDs.
  4. I did devote about 6 weeks to review. Listened to content in the morning, tested later in the day, and reviewed any content again if necessary based on test question results.

I hope this info helps. If you have any questions please contact me.
