I have worked as a Care Coordinator for an Alzheimers Unit since July 2005. It has been a roller coaster ride ever since. If it isn't staffing problems, working with only one day off each week, doing overtime or listening to someone yell at you, it will surely be something else. I went to obtain my Assisted Living Administrators Certification, through the proding of the Executive Director, and haven't even had the chance to act as administrator of my unit, I guess it was in name only. Luckily I haven't signed the contract to work there for one year, since they paid for my course. It was $600, but if I have to pay for it, fine. I have had it with this place!!!
I have been sick since last week, and have worked everyday. I wanted to leave work early one day last week and was warned I could be fired. There is only two LPNs in this building of more than 100 residents. My co-worker and I. Then an RN who makes her own hours. I can't stand this place anymore. I just got chewed out for missing work today. I called in last night, because my virus has become alot worse!
Plus I was told I lost a new client because I wasn't there. My boss is on vacation and just yelled at me from a thousand miles away from here.
I'm going to turn in my two week notice as soon as I go back to work. First I'm heading out the door to go to my doctors appointment. What a day!!!!

Your workplace sounds suspiciously like the one that fired ME three years ago. I'd been working 14-hour weeks and they still wanted more.......then I got sick with bronchitis that turned into pneumonia and took a couple of days off, and when I came back the following Monday I was terminated.
Talk about feeling like the world's biggest loser---who gets fired from a nursing home?? Especially one that has the worst reputation in three counties?? But it was the best thing that could have happened, because the place was driving me crazy anyway.........the take-home lesson here is, of course, to RUN, do not walk, to the nearest exit and shake the dirt of that facility from your feet! Don't put up with it one minute longer than you have to---it's not worth it.:stone

Good for you, there is no need for us to take that crap. You are a professional and deserve to be treated as such. there are plenty of employers out their who are begging to have us. Get better, recover and find a better job... it's their loss. OK I'll get off my soap box... next :rotfl:

Sounds just like life at times as a CNA.
I have enjoyed being a :) CNA, yet the above has been true.

I went to my doctors appointment. I have Bronchitis. So now I'm on Amoxicillin 500mg TID, plus she gave me a prescrip for a Vicodin based syrup to stop my coughing. I have diarrhea again tonight and nausea, but my Amoxicillin has stayed down so far. I think the nausea is from all the coughing and yucky stuff I cough up. I hate sputum even from me.
I just feel awful!!!: I do have a doctors note so I can have tomoorow off. I really want Spring!!!! I'll be glad when I feel great again. Hopefully that will be soon. Sorry about all the whining.

...and this is for your boss ...and my sincere apologies if any one is offended. Its just that such treatment of nurses makes my blood boil.

I think your job is at least partly the cause of your illness. Get OUT! You can work ANYWHERE!
