What are some tips for a new graduate nurse considering moving to Hawaii for employment?

From what I've read, that's probably a very bad idea. I suggest a site search and going there on vacation.

Get experience before you even attempt it.

Research whether you really want to do that before you even attempt it.

Talk to some real nurses over there before you even attempt it.

Compare what they make to the cost of living before you even attempt it.

Research the challenges that come from living on a tropical island in the middle of the ocean separate from the mainland before you even attempt it.

If you do all of this and still want to attempt it, start applying and hope for the best. You have a next to zero chance of getting a job there as a new grad, so get some experience first and do your homework. Good luck.

Prepare to work as a CNA or ward clerk.

I was considering moving to Hawaii, a few years back. Kaiser is the largest health system there, however the pay is no as great as it is in the main land. Hawaii is expensive. You would be more marketable with experience. As other had suggested, do your research and have plan B in the backburner if you decide to go for it.

Best of Lucks!!

Buy a good surfboard?

Actually in all seriousness, as has been alluded to already, I

don't think the job market there is very good.

I will also say this... I was offered a travel position once.

The hourly pay was going to be rather paltry. Certainly not

what I would have expected.
