RN-MSN informatics

Nursing Students Western Governors

Can someone offer advice for this particular program? My start date is 4/1/18. I've been an ED RN for 14 years with just my ADN. I do well in school and I am motived so I'm not worried about that part. Most people discuss and talk about other MSN degrees. If someone is going through or went through this program please let me know your experience and thoughts.

Thanks in advance.

Specializes in NICU, ICU, PICU, Academia.

MSN Ed grad from here.

Best advice- keep all of your Program Mentor appointments. to the best of your ability- keep on the pacing that he/ she sets for you.

Ask for help early and often- do not let a day go by without asking for help if you are stuck on something. Every course has an instructor who is a specialist in just that course.

Do something school-related 5-6 days/ week.

Specializes in Outpatient/Clinic, ClinDoc.

I graduated the informatics MSN last year (was the first grad) - feel free to PM me if you like! I am a three time grad, too. :)

That is so nice of you, thank you. I really appreciate that! And I prob will!

And congrats!

Great advice. Thank you!

Congrats! Best of luck!

It is a new program, which is why you aren't seeing a lot of chatter about it yet. I am a graduate of the MSN Ed program and also did my BSN with . Good luck. It is a great school for working adults.

hi "featherzRN, MSN", were you already working in informatics in your facility or did you just choose this specialty hoping to find work in the area? thx!

I work as a clinical documentation specialist before and after. The Informatics degree is the closest fit to this position, however CDI is not informatics. I'd consider an informatics position if one were available, but that is unlikely in the near future. And I love being a CDI. :)
