I have a job interview tomorrow that I really want. It's in another state because my husband passed away not too long ago, and I need to be closer to family for childcare reasons. If they ask me why I'm relocating should I mention that? Why or why not?

Thanks

I wouldn't bring it up unless asked. If they ask, it's probably just a point of conversation of why you are relocating.

However, I wouldn't go into details about your childcare plans.

My sincere condolences to you. I hope it works out for you.

I definitely won't bring it up unless the relocating thing comes up.I hope they don't though. Thank you.

If asked just say you're looking forward to relocating to be closer to family/loved ones.

Very best of luck tomorrow, @namaste111

I wouldn't bring it up. Just say you're longing to be back home closer to family. My deepest condolences and much luck to you.

I would just say you are relocating to live closer to family, which in fact you are, you dont need to give the reasons behind it. Good luck!! Keep us posted, I have read your story and I'm really sorry you are going thru this.!

Relocating back home to be near family is a very tidy, socially acceptable answer. I have learned the hard way, don't ever volunteer personal information.

You got it, I totally understand. Less personal information is better.

Thank you

I'm not going to tell them about my husband, just that I'm relocating.

I got a call half way to the interview and I got a call saying that they had to cancel the interview because of the coronavirus. They said they still want to interview me and the position will remain open. Ugh!

Sage advice thus far. Just wanted to stop in and give condolences.

Some places are going to video interviewing as resources allow, for positions they need to fill. Will hope something like this might become an option for you/them in the near future.

Thank you very much.
