Hey guys i know i have been posting a lot lately but i have alot on my mind. Right now i am just feeling much more safe heading into a direct entry nursing program. Would that be the better route for someone who has literally struggled through college. It has taken me five years and two academic probations at a community college just to make it this far. I have changed my major multiple times and screwed up for most of my life at this point im just ready to get my college degree and be done any recommendations or feedback would be greatly appreciated. I really want to do nursing and i just feel more secure with direct entry after my bachelors degree.
i know what i want but it doesn't seem to be working out so im just gonna back to what i was doing. idk what i was thinking. i have back tracked and gone through the processes that were recommenderd. I just can't seem to get it right. im just pre nursing meaning that i don't have to attend nursing school.
You need to seek counseling to deal with this grief and emotional turmoil that is overwhelming your life. Perhaps take off a semester from school. You are setting yourself up for failure by not caring for your whole self.
There are dozens of nursing and allied health career opportunities from social work, occupational therapy assistant/therapist, speech pathology, rehabilitation technician, orthotics/prosthetic specialist, counselor, child life specialist
does dental assisting seem more like a fit for me
I think you should slow it down imho. You're jumping all over. No need to make a decision so fast really. I think the advice you got for counselling is a good one. If you're still enrolled in a college, you can see the psychologist at no extra cost to you.
I couldn't answer if dental assisting is good or not for you though.
I know dental hygienists make good money, about 40k more than an assistant.
Dental assisting may be a good option or have you thought about a Physical Therapy Assistant? I have a cousin who is a PTA and my sister is an actual PT. They both like their jobs and do well with them. My cousin went to a cc and got her degree. PTAs are in demand right now. You would be working at rehabilitating people mainly in outpatient clinics. You would be helping people get better.
Now my sister as a PT does do some things that are difficult and not necessarily happy. She has actually worked in burn units. I don't think she liked that. I think now she's in a hospital working with post op patients and she loves it.
Why don't you take some time off and get some counseling? I think it's what you need. Don't rush into anything. Good Luck!!

Sick, scared, unhappy people look to you (the nurse) when they are at their most vulnerable.
You are not ready for any of this responsibility. You sound in need of some counseling yourself to help sort out your confusion and inability to follow through on any of your academic plans.
Don't waste any more money on school.
