Should I apply to nursing school this Fall?

Published

So here is the deal, I picked up a microbio class over summer so i could take AP2 in the fall and apply to the nursing program for next fall. Unfortunately, due to personal reasons I was not able to finish the class, so I took a W. I am still going to take AP2 in the fall along with pharm calc stats and developmental psych, but not microbio till spring because everyone tells me to NOT take those two classes together. I'v been attending community college for two years now (part time and working) trying to finish my pre reqs and it sucks to think it might not be another two years till i can GET INTO to nursing school. Do you think its useless to apply to nursing schools this fall with that W left there?

Sure why not? The worst that can happen is you don't get in. You could also try applying to a school that does not require pre-req's.

It definitely couldn't hurt! Sometimes you're given contingency acceptance based on completion of the courses you are currently enrolled in; however, if you haven't completed Micro at the time of your application, it may decrease your chance of getting accepted as some schools prefer and/or require you to have all pre-requisites complete by the time you begin your program.

Either way, I wish you the best of luck for when you apply! You'll get there! :-)

My school accepted me even though I had one pre req left to take. They just told me to get a B or above (which I did) and I would be good to go. It doesn't hurt to try.

If you can apply before finishing.....and there isn't a big application fee.....what do you have to lose?

one of the schools I am applying to allows you to apply during your last semester of prereqs....it's based on a points system and they will award the #of points that they award for a C (1 point per unfinished pre req...a B would be 2 and an A would be 3) I will be finishing 2 pre reqs this spring when I apply. To raise my chances I am finishing as many of the bonus points....and am studying my behind off for TEAS so that hopefully I will have enough points to be accepted. if not I will finish my prepreqs....and apply to that school + the other two in my area that do not allow you to apply until your prereqs are complete
