Hello Everyone!
I am starting this thread to hopefully compile some extra information regarding acceptance into Shoreline Community College's RN program for Fall 2017. The application deadline was April 3rd, and acceptance letters are to be sent out 4-6 weeks after. Needless to say the suspense is not doing me any favors!!!
Has anyone else applied for Fall 2017? I have been reading on forums the minimum acceptance points by quarter (as far back as Fall 2011) - and it seems to range anywhere from 100.3 to 108.6.
Any info on number of applicants or when acceptance letters are being received would be greatly appreciated! Good luck everyone .
Tell me about it my self esteem is shot!!! This is my third time, my fist time I was just applying, last time I thought I had a chance without my CNA, but this round I'm feeling better. The mandatory orientation in the past was on a Wednesday about 2-3 weeks from receiving the letter it's generally from 8-12noon, then they made us take a the 3hr acuplacer test (only to get a baseline for the future applications, didn't count towards anything). I'm curious to see if the orientation will be like before or closer to September? You are right there is a lot of paperwork and they send most of it to you with an acceptance or alternate letter to complete beforehand. If you show up to the orientation with everything complete, proof of insurance, vaccine records and background check money they will give you the registration codes that day, but you don't have to get it all completed right away, you just don't get to register until you do. They really work with you though, they want you to susceed and I believe they are the most comprehensive program, the only one I want to go too (that I can afford).
I also called the Health Occupations office yesterday (I'm sure they are tired of hearing from me by this point!) and was told that letters should be going out today. So hopefully we will all receive them by Monday! Thanks for all the information on alternates and orientation. What a process!

Thank you, that's very informative. I'm hoping I'll get in my first go-around and not be an alternate status (I should have 105.25 if I get the educational bonus points) but I know realistically that might happen with me. I know someone who had to apply three times, they were an alternate the second time and didn't get in. Third time was the charm! They say it's worth it just to keep applying though, no matter how many times it takes - the program is just that good. I can't fathom what that would do to my self-esteem though, just being rejected time after time. How soon do they usually do the mandatory orientation? Do you think it would be in June sometime? I know they need some paperwork including a vaccinations record and other logistical stuff before classes would start in the fall.
