She/He Did What?!

Nurses General Nursing

A recent post has got me thinking:

What's the craziest thing you've ever seen/come across from a nursing student/coworker?

:smackingf

I know that there is a thread for both of those... someone will post the link as I forgot the titles.

That if we keep putting each other down, then there would be no one left to build up.

Words matter and words hurt and knowing we have students on board should make a difference. I see threads on bashing nursing student/coworker, I am yet to see one on praising a nursing student/coworker,who did something well or made your day easier.

Let's buildup and not tear down:)

With all honesty, I didn't start this to humiliate or embarrass anyone. I've always been fortunate enough to have wonderful nurses take care of me. And a recent post got me wondering whether or not some nurses mess up or do anything not "normal."

Sorry if this offended anyone.

Wow, these stories are crazy.

Well, I'm not a nurse yet...so this will probably be off topic as it's not related to nursing but I'll go ahead and make fun of myself lol

My brother was once talking to me and he randomly said/joked that watermelons grow on trees. Being sleep deprived as I was, I asked him what happens when watermelons got really heavy? Did they just fall from the tree when ripe? But if they grow on trees that means trees are weighed down by all the watermelons. Here he is, my brother, just laughing at me:lol2:

Then I remembered vines.

:lol2:

Are you even a nurse? Your profile lists your nursing education as "Other." If you're not a nurse, why would you come to a nursing board asking for stories about stupid mistakes nurses have made? If you are a nurse, why would you ask this? Nurses complain about being "eaten" by their co-workers; this is a "nurse-eating" post if I ever saw one.

If you are a nurse and have managed not to make a mistake yet in your practice, consider yourself lucky. At some point you will screw up. Then you'll be hoping for colleagues who will support you, not ridicule you.

I don't really think the OP was meaning to bash other nurses. Also, sometimes comparing the mistakes of others is something we can learn from. That being said, there are many threads that are almost the same and they have plenty of stories to browse through :)

Since the OP started two threads with similar themes, I think it's a valid point. I would never potentially embarrass a co-worker by posting about him/her on a public forum. I'm sure I've made some bone-headed mistakes. I'd hate to come here and read about myself and know people were getting a laugh at my expense.

Agreed. I try and give the benefit of the doubt, maybe too often?
