Hello! It's that exciting time again!

:)

I'm starting this thread to support, advise, and inform each other about this residency program. If you don't mind, share a little bit about yourselves.

Graduation date: Degree type: healthcare experience: Any special skills or certificates:

Thanks!

I graduated back in December 2012. I have a couple of months of experience as a RN and a year experience as a CNA. I graduated with a ASN and am currently working on my BSN. This will be my 4rth time applying to Sharps NNRP!!! I have the basic certifications (BLS and ACLS) I applied to Grossmont's PCU and telemetry/MS.

Specializes in Hospice & Palliative Care, Oncology, M/S.

As far as I've heard, WhitBit, CV has made their calls. Please call the admin assistant who set up your interview just in case they're going through second rounds. All the best.

Bumping this for some insight as to the hiring process. I'm from Ohio, my long term girlfriend is from SD, and has family in Sharp. I have absolutely no idea as to the application process because "instructions will be released January/February" Any info is appreciated!

Specializes in Psych ICU, addictions.

Check the website daily, as Sharp publishes the new grad announcment without a lot of fanfare. Also, it is usually open for only a week or so, so be prepared to apply as soon as you see the posting...because it may not be there the next time you return.

A girlfriend having family in Sharp...well, when it comes to the "do you have any family working here?" question, you can't say Yes as it's her family and not yours. So this may help you less than you think...but that being said, you could put one of their names down as your referrer and/or see if one of them can put in a good word for you. Especially if one of them happens to be working in/close to the clinical area.

Anyone applying for Summer 2014 ??

I am.

Does anyone know what units are typically available to apply to for the New Grad residency at Sharp?

I think it varies. The last time I believe they had ER and OB at Chula Vista, PCU and rotation at Grossmont, and PCU at memorial. They "prefer" that you apply for the position you did your preceptorship at. For example, for their ER position they prefer candidates that did preceptorship at ER.

You will have to answer why you chose your 1st option so try to think of what you would say in those areas or whatever area you want to apply for.

Where you orient is not an indication of where you will be hired. You have to reapply again to your top units that have openings after your orientation is finished.

Ah I take that back i was thinking about scripts

Thanks guys for all that information! So when the application opens do you apply to one app that has you choose two options? Or do you apply to two different applications such as PCU and Med/Surg?

There is one main application only. In there you have to type what is your 1st option then your 2nd option. The units that are available will be posted on the job post information.
