Hi, I just applied to Sharp new grad residency for winter 2011-2012. Anyone else applied?
After I sent my application, I didnt get any email confirmation at all. Anyone else having the same issues?
Also, can you apply to more than two units? I know during the application they ask you for your top two choices.
Anyway.. goodluck to all of us who applied! I hope we get at least an interview.
I dont work for sharp. I took the regional perinatal systems course. i believe that this is a requirement. i recommend people to take it. when i took it, it seemed like everyone in the class already had a job. honestly the competition now is like 20 jobs with 1500-2000 applicants. you can narrow that down if you take the RPS class. I currently am a psych nurse. I have BLS, ACLS, NRP, PALS, ENPC.
i graduated may 2011. i have had my license for almost a year... working for about 8 months. I work at a psych facility as equivalent to a lvn. not so great pay, not so great job. i only worked there cuz thats where i could find a job. ive always wanted to be working with mothers and babies :) it's just been so hard out of school trying to find a new grad job. trust me. take the class. you wont regret it. and hopefully i get the job!
Just to ease some anxiety, I applied for the fall program last July and was called for an interview in September. Sharp takes a really long time to make their calls as they are thorough with their search. I already went through this with them twice before and both times it took a couple of months to get a call. Hang in there!
Thank you so much for that info. It amazes me that even in this cutthroat job market, people here still take the time to share and reassure one another. I am in the right messageboard
If you are persistent, things will work out! Do whatever you can to get experience and build your resume. Volunteer at a hospital, work part time, anything that can get you bedside or real life nursing experience. The job market will turn around, its only a matter of time. Try this thread. Lots of great advice:

I know how extremely hard the journey towards finding a position has been for me, but I've had some really great people help me out along the way so it's kind of like "paying it forward". One more thing....NETWORKing is the name of the game in this economy!! Find some good people to interact with and don't be afraid to keep in touch with along the way. Good luck to you!
