Nurses Residency

Published

Hi all! I am starting this thread for those who have applied/are going to apply for the Sharp New Grad RN residency for Winter 2022-2023!

Still haven’t heard anything back yet either.

Did anyone who applied to Mary Birch L&D receive the email about the awhonn/ucsd requirement? If so do you know exactly which class this is and/or have a link?

Hey CaliforniaNurse1! I also got that email. I had an externship with Sharp Chula Vista over the Summer and had discussed this course with my preceptor (CNS researcher/educator not L&D). The UCSD course fills up very quickly, but I will share the link for the AWHONN course. This is the course her friend/coworker, an OB CNS at Sharp Chula Vista, showed me. Hope this helps! AWHONN POEP Course

Oh cool thanks! I thought that was it but wanted to make sure. Did you also take the Basic Fetal monitoring with AWHONN? I think they mentioned both were needed.

does anyone know when the app closed/ when they normally reach out

I now have a second application that lists a specific hospital, unit, and shift. It's under consideration.

Specializes in wannabe ICU/ED.

Which hospital?

Sharp Coronado Hospital acute and progressive care unit.

I now have 2 additional applications. One for sharp coronado acute and PCU as well as Sharp Chula Vista (unit and shift not specified). I hope that we hear something soon!

Where do you see the additional applications? On workday or was an email sent?

Yes, I have them on workday :-)

I wonder when we should start hearing back? Anyone have any clue?

Hey CaliforniaNurse1! I did my fetal monitoring through Relias. You probably have to search on Google for their course. My previous nurse said that a lot of people use it, so it is what I used. It is certified by AWHONN.
