Definitely the character Major Margaret Houlihan of M*A*S*H played by Loretta Swit.

Her high standards of nursing, leadership and general gumption inspire me.

She is also a woman with great feelings, both personally and professionally which she does her best to control. To me this indicates she is not just a nurse but she is a human.

Whenever I get really riled up, I might say to someone, "They don't want me to do a Margaret Houlihan on their butts do they?" LOL.

Nurse Betty (Renee Zellweger)

I have been a Nurse for 43 years, and grew up in the 60's. So I would have to say my Favorite TV Nurse, even though she was only in a few Episodes of Andy Griffith, is Nurse Peggy. She was a kind and caring Nurse and Independent in her own Profession. In those days, that was pretty unusual. YAY Nurse Peggy!!

Kitty Forman from That 70's Show...a girl after my heart dealing with teenagers and a husband all while working in a challenging profession. Real life situations with laughter thrown in, which is what you need after a hard day's work....and a drink here or there!

I don't know what that is........

Nurse Hathaway from ER.

Carol Hathaway ER- Performing a trache using a straw! Talk about DRAMA!!!

My favorite TV nurse was Julia Baker (Diahann Carroll) on the sitcom TV show Mannix. She was among some of the first African Americans actresses that were depicted in a non - stereotypical role. Ms Baker was an intelligent, articulate, caring and compassionate nurse. As a black nurse myself, I think it's important for young black girls/boys to have positive role models.

Specializes in MedSurg.

Nurse Nicolette Nevin(Emily VanCamp) from The Resident. She shows so much compassion to her patients and advocates them. She doesn’t let her nurse status get in the way of others putting her inferior of her opinions and intentions. She speaks up for what is necessary and acts above and beyond to get issues resolved. She portrays as an ideal and efficient nurse everyone would appreciate working for them.

Specializes in Education/Geriatrics.

My favorite TV nurse is definitely "Hot Lips" Houlahan. She was so professional but also had the caring side to her where she wasn't afraid to hold someone's hand when they died. Her sense of compassion and humor made "MASH" the successful show it became. To this day, I still watch it on syndication.
