As a pre-nursing student, I would love to hear what your 1st day of class was like. Please share your experiences with us newbies! :)

This is great.. keep 'em coming!
Are any of you that have replied in an accelerated program? I will be starting an accelerated program and would love to hear about those experiences as well.

Mine was just an introduction to that class along with a pop quiz on the nursing process and a lecture on taking a health hx and a review of systems. Nothing major or groundbreaking.
(I'm in an accelerated program, but the first semester is less so.)

I don't exactly remember the first day but I do remember first semester was cool. We did have a med math test that had to be passed with 100% got three tries tho, strike three you were out! That was around week 3 . Nothing too scary. Classes weren't that tough. Did all Day skills lab on Friday. Then second semester rolled around and man it got harder!

I had 3-4 hours notice that I got into my class. I had been on the waitlist, and someone decided (bless her heart) on the day that class started that she would not be attending, and I got to take her place. Oh, and I just moved 70 miles away from that school --the day before-- this class started.
So I get to class, and it's time to introduce myself. I introduce myself and include something along the lines of "I never wanted to be a nurse, I still don't know if I want to be a nurse, buuuut I'm here!" This caught the attention of my professor, who asked to speak to me during the first break. She was a little "concerned" about my introduction and wanted to be sure that I was committed to nursing school because there were plenty of people who wanted to take my place. I said "nope, I'm in. You let me in here, now I'm staying." I had no idea what I was getting into. Phew! What a ride it was!
Good luck.

And so.... are you glad you made it through? How long has it been?
I am SO glad I made it through. Graduated in December 2016, passed NCLEX in May 2017 and started my first job August 2017. I am celebrating my one year in my first position and I am graduating from nurse-residency program at the end of this month.
No regrets.

first day of nursing school was full on bootcamp. We started at 0700am and ended at 430pm. the first hour was introduction and the rest was full on lectures with 2 breaks and an hour lunch in-between. We went over atleast 2-3 chapters thoroughly. Especially since we had exams every week. This went on for the first 4 wks before we started our hospital rotations.
